ALL OUT / ALL MOTOR 5th gen....finally coming together
Not sure how many of you go on PP to see my build thread but here is a few things going on with the race car. Its coming off the streets mostly for good and is being turned into a dedicated track car. here are some pictures:
Skunk2 Top End (Pro3 cams) with oversized newly designed valves
Weirtech Custom intake manifold and fuel rail
-6AN Fuel feed/return hoses and ESP traction bar
Bosch 044 fuel pump
5 gallon fuel Cell
Koyo Radiator and Maradyne 13" fan
Down to the wire now to have the engine running on the engine dyno. I ordered my race gas this week. Will be running RocketBrand e85. I'll have that next week which i will then be making a trip to jacksonville to assist in getting everything started / running and broken in.
The things i need to have the car track ready are:
Racepak IQ3 display
DTAfast s60 engine management and wiring
custom crankcase ventilation system being built by Reid Lunde @ Kaizenspeed
Exospeed Star5 wheels/skinnies
Mickey Thompson 24.5x8.5x15 ET drag slicks
fuel filter for prepump, post pump, and return line
Lexan to cover what was my sunroof
materials to build header
Hoping for it to be track ready by spring time. Enjoy the prelude racing love.

Wow man, long time no see. Your car(and you) have come a long way.
What will you be driving regularly? Wow man, that engine build is absolutely out of this world.
thanks, i appreciate it man.
I bought a 98 Nissan Frontier back in sept 09 before the old motor spun a rod bearing. The truck had 38k miles on it!
The motor is pretty wild. I would have done it myself but this build is a bit out of my comfort zone with how tight the clearances are and how easily everything on the inside could become mangled. But through all this, i have learned a boat load through my engine builder and my confidence in building this caliber of an engine definitely increased.
I'm really excited to use the e85 race gas and the DTA engine management. I have not seen anyone use this setup on their prelude and/or h22, especially being that i am going to be using LS1 ignition coils. Really hoping to see 350-370 at the flywheel but i guess we will see next weekend.
Once i get around to it, i'll buy the materials i need to build the race exhaust (hood exit).
reid @ kaizenspeed today finished cutting out the pieces to build my crankcase breather tank from the water jet. Should be finished by Monday:

any updates? I'm curious to see it when the motor is back in the car. I've followed this car on youtube and these forums for the last few years now. Since it was running in the 14.0 flat video anyways.
I designed and built my new header and my first fabrication, exhaust wise, ever. Almost my first time welding.
welds started out rough, and by the time i ended it, i had some pretty decent welds for only having 2-3 hours of welding time under my belt:
next day
few days later after reading and getting some good advice
custom crankcase tank designed and built by Reid @ kaizenspeed. Just had to line up the bracket and have it welded to the tank. It was designed to bolt in where the old fuse box was.
new tb flange for my intake manifold, 68mm TB vs 92mm TB
Knowing how much i paid for the manifold, the anodizing and the scratch resistant coating , i was a little upset cutting the old flange off
EuroR crank pulley
AEM EPM
gonna be in the car very soon. Only need a couple fuel fittings for the rails, the engine management and wiring materials before it can run in the car.

Wow, I'd love to see the direct ignition fully set up, like how you mount the coil packs and such to the valve cover. Always been curious if it was something worth doing on even a street driven car.

I am probably going to be mounting the coil packs on the firewall. I thought about mounting them on the cover but even if i didn't use the stock mounting bracket, there wouldn't be anywhere for them to sit on the cover and not be in the way and honestly really ugly lol.
Worth it? eh, i could have ran a stock honda ignition but i was already moving to a full standalone and custom engine harness so why not for just a little more? Plus as a tuner, i'd like to know how to get it all set up properly. I work at a domestic dominated shop so i can have whatever set we have laying around.

well dont drive anywhere until it goes to the track. Thats the only time the public will see it lol. I may once in a blue moon take it on the street if i decide to put a tag and insurance back on, but being that i have a 5 gallon tank, running e85, side exit exhaust, i dont think the cops will like me very much haha.

Yeah, good point. Forgot that florida cops are stingier than the Alabama cops over here. ****, one cop in town has an accord with an h22 and a fart can exhaust. lol. The only thing they pull ppl over here for is drugs, tint under 30%, and drving 10-15 mph over lol.
^Drag guessing by the wheel/tire set up but who knows, maybe he'll decide he wants to put the Prelude on something with some turns. Still cool that your doing the ignition on the firewall but I've been really wanting to see if anyone could maybe use '06+ maybe Civic Si coil packs mounted to the valve cover as they seem compact enough to maybe even fit with the plastic cover over them.
If your header turns out some impressive power are you going to perhaps try to offer to make some? Could end up being a good way to get funds for the car. Another thing with the header, looks like you're trying to weld the merge to the rest, don't you think it'll be hard to weld that all the way around each pipe? Maybe try a slip joint with springs?

this is definitely a drag setup lol. It will get trailered to the track as its not tagged and no insurance + its not the kind of setup i want to be driving for even a 20-30 mile distance.
as for the header, i was considering it but i am mostly doing this for myself until i gained the R&D to know exactly what a particular setup is going to want regardless of the setup. I've got quite a few things in line before buying a TIG and fabrication tools......girlfriend -> wife, my own place (own garage). Finding a way to make money is always the plan, but not until fully prepared. Go in unprepared and you get people not satisfied with the product.
most of my initial plans revolve around fabricating parts for the h22/prelude so we will see what happens.
BTW:
nice being able to poke the motor in from the bottom while still attached to the engine stand and simply bolting on the mounts lol.

Amazing build! Do you plan on grinding the welds smooth on the header?
