Hopefully she appreciates all the money I spent on her. She's only 3000 miles young but I don't think she'll mind
Still not sure when I'm going to do all of this. Now that the parts are in the garage I'm alittle anxious but I'll probably have to wait until the weather warms up a bit.
Parts List:
VIS CF OEM hood
DGM CF grill
Essential Speed Polished Stage 1 and 2 kit
HKS polished BOV
Autometer boost and A/F electric gauges
full pillar dual gauge pod + paint for pod
Hey Andy, I offered to sell you my car but you said you didn't want a red Prelude. The offer is always on the table if you ever decide you would like it. I'd love to sell it to you because I know you'd take care of her.
I really don't have a lot of money. I'm 27 but for some reason I can't stop modding my cars. I thought I would grow out of it but I just can't quit. When I bought this car it was supposed to be a daily driver and I said I would never mod it. By the pictures above you can see that went out the window.
I did however tell my wife that these were the last items I was going to spend money on. It's amazing how much more money I would have had if I didn't have these cars and spend the money on something that will depretiate in value the more I spend on it. I could have had a nice college fund for the future kids or have invested in the market.
Hopefully I stick to my word this time and stop spending money. I need to stop visiting these boards though. Everytime I see a new product out or a picture I get that itch again.
You better buy something for the prelude before she gets mad at you!

dang mark.. cant wait to see the protege w/the turbo on it.. then its going to be waaah.. pssshhhhhh on a daily basis :-D good stuff man.. .looking forward to seeing it done up!
Voo, it was really hard to fight off the temptation of buying a CF hood for the Prelude also.
I figure the Prelude looks good as is and performs very well also. I don't anticipate buying anything else for it, except for basic maintenance.
Alex, the protege is turbo'd from the factory so it already is pssssssh on a daily basis
I just bought this stuff because the stock piping is plastic and you can see the pipes expand and contract under charge. The stock intercooler is a peanut and is sidemounted so it heatsoaks in no time. It also has a BPV as opposed to a BOV so the sound is very muffled. The stock set-up is recirculated so I have to recirculate the HKS but Essential Speed fits the BOV with the recirculating fitting and it should sound more "manly" when it is fitted to the system. It's only a T25 but because it is tiny it spools very quickly and I experience almost no turbo lag.
It is a very fun car to drive stock but it should be even better when its done.
duhh.. that's right.. i remember driving one on the mazda rev it up last year.. like hyper yellow and its a Single Turbo right? yes indeed was very fun to drive through the slolems :-) cant wait to see the finished product Mark! :-)
I got around to installing this stuff. I must admit it was fun to work on the cars again but I'm getting too old for this stuff. I can't take rolling around on the ground anymore. I'm just getting to be a grumpy old man.
It was worth it though. I haven't fired it up yet since I want to double check all my connections and I finished late last night.
I installed everything but the hood and the guages.
OMG that is sweetness.. what kinda numbers does that overall kit put out Mark? how much do u think you'll be pushin' @ the wheels? Lookin' cleannn brudda!
I'm not sure what numbers it pushes just with the kit and stock boost.
I'm going to keep it stock boost (about 7 PSI) because I don't want to splice into the wastegate vaccum line to install a boost controller. The minute the dealership sees that, my warranty is out the window. Hopefully they will honor the warranty with these things!!!!!!!
The stock intercooler is a peanut and so inefficient so the new system coupled with the CAI should yield about 15 - 20 WHP (so I was told) at stock boost. Because I replaced the stock plastic pipes with hardpipes there is no more expansion so there will be no more loss in charge pressure. I was told that just the addition of the hardpipes will yield 1 PSI over the stock level because the expansion is eliminated.
We'll see.
I like it, because I could keep the lower grill intact and provides more of a stealth look. I really don't want to attract that much attention, I just wanted to prolong my engines life by allowing it breath better.
i've heard the stock exhaust is very restricting and you'll get good gains with an aftermarket one. are you doing other mods or is this it? btw, looks very nice.
lol, did you honestly convince yourself of that? lol .. looks sweet by the way
Sure did, if you see the stock intercooler you'll know what I'm talking about. I can't believe that they even bothered to put one there.
Why wouldn't it help prolong my engines life. If the stock system is so inefficient and is constantly running hot to the point where it heatsoaks, wouldn't cooler temps only increase the engines effeciency, reduce friction, reduce stress etc.?
