98 Prelude Rebuild

Well, do to underlying circumstances i have gotten my licence suspended for 3-5 1/2 months. So with the time i will have not driving the prelude the engine will be going under he knife for a rebuild. The engine has around 150,000 miles, burns oil like hell, and has the notorious crank pulley wobble. So far my parts list is as follows:

-Re-manufactured Crankshaft
-Oil pan gasket
-Oil pump
-Crankshaft seal
-Piston rings
-Rod Bearing Set
-Thrust Washer
-Head Gasket Set
-Camshaft Seal

Total = $850

I am figuring the entire build will be around $1000-1500 including misc. parts by the time all is said and done.

If anyone can think of anything i missed or has any other comments feel free to post. I will be updating this thread constantly once the build starts, which will hopefully be within the next few weeks.

You had better make sure whoever is going to be doing your cylinder work knows how to work with FRM.

It will be me and my dad doing most of the work. What will we have to look out for with the FRM vs cast iron. I understand the FRM is lighter and has a longer lifespan than cast iron.

^^You need to search around before you make the mistake of ignorantly working with FRM.

Also read in the helms. There is only one page dedicated to working with FRM, but that's a little more info you'll know.

Yes i am in the process of learning everything i can about them, and if i am not confident i can always fork over some extra green to have someone with more experience do the work for me.
