What do you say to people when they ask why you're driving your son's car?

i will admit that i do really like the way the older imports look when they are JDM/OEM.

I dress appropriately for my age and the occasion. There are so many trends in fashion, that inevitably everyone will be button holed into particular genre and follow the trends associated with it.
I have always found it takes more imagination to be on the leading edge of a current trend than to cop out and either do what others did, and forgot about years ago, or keep what others got rid of years ago. Scouring the net for rare OEM/JDM items which enhance the cars style and functionality takes more imagination and ingenuity than going on a Type-R shopping spree and colour matching Fisher Price toys.
As for me, I have always liked the OEM/JDM (clean) look. OEM lip/skirt or Mugen kit. JDM fogs, tasteful wheels, lowered just a tad. Nicely tinted windows, OEM-ish looking exhaust. Type S intake, valve cover, strut bar (neuspeed is also clean looking). JDM red leather seats et al.

Well you have me there. I have not been to any shows that would allow anything like your car in. Mind you, he cars that you and I would take to show, and the people who appreciate them are worlds apart. I wouldn't expect the gangly teen with a freshly minted learner's permit who would jizz in his floods over your car, to appreciate the '57 Sunliner I roll up in. Likewise, I wouldn't expect anyone with taste to grant a second look at what you have to offer.

Pity, you should have kept it. It would be worth 10 times what you could fetch for that Prelude you have now. Not from me though, '57 Chevys are beyond cliché and played out. Everyone and their dog had one (and still does). The '56 and '58 were much nicer, but I digress..

Growing up around classic cars I have a natural appreciation for the automobile and the work that goes into them. When it comes to hotrods I admire originality. For instance, our latest project is a '32 Ford 5 window coupe. Instead of dropping in a late model fuel injected V6/w auto, tilt steering, and a CD player like every other '32 ford out there today, we're using parts they had available in the 1950's and 60's. Flathead V8, primer black, red wheels, wide white walls, possibly no fenders, chrome trim rings and baby moons. At a show it will stand out against the fiberglass cookie cutter kit cars that everyone else "builds."

And just what the hell is wrong with a Japanese car? You drive one don't you? Or are you on stony ground, slumming it in a lowly old Prelude? A Prelude you proudly take to shows.
In one sentence you say I'm ignorant to what is show worthy when I criticize your car, then in the next you slag off Japanese cars as a whole. Your car is "great" but imports suck? I don't know about your car, but you would definitely win "Best in Bipolar."

I wouldn't walk across the street to see a show full of Fast and Furious relics and middle agers masquerading as teenagers.
