Hi all.
I'm a bit new here to Preludeonline.com but signed up a few months ago.
I thought it might be time to post up my story about my Prelude and what's going on with it.
I saw this 92 Prelude sitting in this guy's backyard and went and knocked on the door and asked him if he wanted to sell it. He told me the H23 engine was blown and he wanted $200 for it. So I bought it from him.
It sat around the shop a few weeks, then I started tearing it down. Everytime I took something off, I wanted to take something else off, then decided I might aswell just restore the whole car because I'm just too picky about detail and "newness" on older cars.
The "newness" is gone on this Prelude, but it has an very nice interior with very low wear and tear. The seats are in great shape and it only needs a few minor interior pieces and some interior pieces need to be restored (painted or recovered, such as door handles/locks and rear deck panel).
The overall structure of the car is solid, it has never been in a wreck and only has a few dents that are about the size of a quarter. I'v noticed the left side door has been repainted but I believe was due to sratches, not big dents. The only other damage that was on the car is a 5" hole in the front bumper cover. Ohyeah, almost forgot... The sunroof panel is rotted and needs replacing, and the left wheel arch is rotted about 6" in length and 1" in width and needs to be fixed. But the whole car is straight and has original paint and is perfect.
The Prelude sat in my Dad's shop as I saved money and worked on my other project (Classic Mini cooper wagon restoration) I sold the engine out of my classic Mini and then bought a Honda Accord from this kid who had already bought a JDM H22 Vtec 5speed and paid a mechanic shop to put it in. He said the engine had around 30-40k miles on it and then he put around 10k miles driving it around. The whole 10k in miles he put on it, Vtec was never working with the Skunk2 ECU he bought for it because he couldn't figure out how to hook it up. Then it sat in his yard for quite awile untill I bought the it from him
I took the Accord back to my Dad's shop and Gutted it from everything I wanted then took it to the junkyard. I then cleaned the H22 and painted it. As of today my Prelude is back in the shop and is getting even more gutted for a complete full restoration. I'm going over everything, inspecting, cleaning, and replacing all worn and broken parts such as booties, bushing, hoses, clips etc etc. All the little details that make a car look and drive like it just rolled off the factory floor. That is my goal with this Prelude.
It's going to be pretty much a reliable daily driver that I want to make look like it is brand new inside and out. Just because it's old doesn't mean it can't look, feel and smell like it is brand new
Anywho, enjoy the pics. I got alot of work to do and I will update this thread as I progress.
