Why did you do this mod? The P/O of my car did this mod, and I don't see any real benefit of it. Enlighten me please.

At WOT; there is the same vacuum in the intake manifold, as there is in the intake pipe. Considering that I have a lead foot; I'm at WOT more oftenly than I should be.

The PCV Valve sucks scorched oil fumes, and other bad fumes from the head. However, when the intake and output have the same vacuum, no air is moved; therefore, the fumes build up.

Once enough fumes build up inside of the head, all it takes is an overheated camshaft lobe, to detonate the head, turning the valve cover into a big piston.

Now, needless to say, I'm over-exaggerating this; as it would take quite some time for it to actually happen..

Also, there are other small reasons:
slight turbulence reduction in the intake charge pipe
Dry, Warm air circulating through the head, instead of cold, moist air, from down by the road, when its raining (water will replace oil, and cause some parts to prematurely wear)

Lastly, considering that there is nothing but atmospheric vacuum on the intake side now, it gives you the ability to run a catch can (vapors arn't the only thing that the PCV sucks out- it sucks oil out too... an properly placed catch can, can recover that oil for you.)

V/r,
Mike

That is weird. Can you please supply us with a picture of your setup. I currently have a oil catch can no breather of course on the other side close to the intake i forgot what valve its called but yeah. Possibly if you can show us a picture? I thot on the side that you have the catch can on constantly sucks and yes oil goes through too but doesnt it have to be constantly sucking? Is your catch can fully sealed off or something? I took that valve off before and the car didnt idle well at all. I will get a picture of what my setup looks like lol

The breather filter needs to go on the valve cover, at #2; and the catch can needs to be placed inline, on the line from the other side, to the intake manifold (#3)

My catch can is sealed.
