1991' Original turbo, t top, 5 speed. $6,000 Firm. No trades--already have a lude etc. Located in Chicagoland, Illinois.
I've owned this MR2 for about 4 months now and have daily driven it +100 miles a day. It's a strong, reliable, fun, quick sporty car. No one who's seen it believes it has 253,000 original miles on the stock engine. Compression 150-160's across all 4. Does not turn oil, small leak around the oil pan.
No power steering from the factory but mid engine - easy to steer. Ice cold A/C and Africa hot Heat. Power windows, power locks etc.
Hard to find production number #600 original 5 speed, t top in Steel Gray Mist/Steel Mist Gray which in the MR2 world is the most sought after color. Only made in 91' and in 92' they changed the name and stopped making it in turbo models.
Dyno'd recently at 183whp, 210 torque on suja 1's dyno and 205.5 whp and 190 torque on a dyno jet.
Brand new ACT clutch installed at Suja1 less than 2,000 miles ago.
lowered on Suspension technique lowering springs and 5 way adjustable tokico struts. One of the rears is brand new, installed at suja1. The others have about 15,000 miles on them but the front are leaking. Not sure why this is happening but I hear tokico's aren't that great to begin with.
Inside is black but the seats are a shade of dark blue. Cloth interior. Blitz manual boost gauge and LED gauge cluster. Car will come with a CD player. Has custom mounted 6.5'' orion components that sound crisp.
Engine-all the hoses and clamps have been recently replaced. Twosareus manual boost controller set to 1.1 bar. Fujitsubo rare true dual 3'' exhaust. This is the quietest exhaust made for the Mr2, all you hear inside the cabin is the turbo. CT26 turbo rebuilt 20,000 miles ago. I have a folder filled with maintenance records some dating as far back as 1991. This car was on a strict maintenance schedule.
Exterior- Car has been a southern car since I bought it, so I had the front and rear bumper re painted since they had faded pretty bad. Car will come with HIDs in the fog lights.
Wheels/tires. Stern 3 piece staggered wheels. 16x7 front and 16x8 rear. Rears are meaty tires 245/45/16 and are all in good condition. Crash bolts are installed giving it about 1.5 degrees of camber all around. Could still use an alignment though since it pulls a little.
The bad: Tensioner is vibrating so it does an annoying buzzing noise from1,500-1,800 rpms. No biggie, non interfering engine so just swap it with the next timing belt due around 300,000 miles. One small dent on the upper quarter panel and some light surface rust on one side skirt.
Reason for selling? It's an amazing car and hard to find but I'm giving something else a try..I chance cars a lot if you guys haven't noticed lol.
