First I wanted to say that this isn't a personal attack against Doug or anything. I think he's done a great job as president. That being said...
I wanted to know how everyone felt about replacing Doug as president? This disappearing thing is BS. I need stickers for a couple people and I need more cards. How does it make us look when I have people wanting to join and I have to tell them that the president is MIA? Doug's done a great job as pres but I think it might be time for someone else to take his place.
If I'm stepping over the line here guys let me know.

You certainly aren't overstepping anything. In fact I'm glad you brought it up.
I don't know where doug is and I don't think anyone else here does either. While he did a very good job at it while still available, he isn't anymore.
Out of the people in the club that actually show up on a regular basis, Kevin, I think you are probably the winner here. I would be more than willing to throw my hat in but, then again, I am 6 hours away.
The problem is going to be gathering the stickers and information that Doug has.
I really wish I knew where he was and knew he was OK.
i agree we need to vote for new president.....Doug's great and all but the disappearing act is leaving all other members kinda out on things(hope all is ok) But yeah new president needs to be always there just realize the responsibilities that came along with it.
I've got stickers. Anyone who wants to take over the responsibility for them, send me a PM with a snail address.
Anyone interested in the pres job I suggest step up- generally presidents come in strong and then crap out after about 6 months.
At one point, we used to have deals with a bunch of area shops, including Honda dealers, for parts, service, etc. It takes a lot of work to get it to that point, let alone make all the meetings, etc., etc. - just look at some of the clubs like the NTS2KOC that hosts it's own autocrosses, drives, and track events.
I don't speak up a lot, and the last time I went to a meet Doug was there, so my opinion might not count for much.
I nominate Kevin for president as well. As far as I know he's been to every meet for more than a year now and he's the most active here on the forum and has been the most proactive as far as getting new members to come. I think Doug did done a great job at keeping the club alive for so long since it began dying out, but it's started dying out again and Kevin would do a fine job as a new president.
Another thing I'd like to mention are dues. I payed last year when the paypal system was started up. Aside from the NTPOG stickers and a PO membership, I haven't seen anything else out of the $20 membership fee. Maybe because I didn't go to NPM, but did everyone who payed go? Edit: (though the car advice/assistance and discounted service when we need it probably go into it too)
That said, I am reluctant to pay another $20 for this year and have not yet.
One thing your dues were supposed to be good for was the discounts at the local shops, discount tire direct, honda discount, that sort of thing. I dont know details about it, i have just heard. haha. I have faith in kevin. Its going to be brought back strong!
I would have to say kev gets my support too, i just joined and the only real active member i see is him. not only that but he seems to have a deep love for preludes and is willing to help whenever he can.
oh and i paid dues but p.o. account was never activated....had to do that myself..... :/
This is one thing the Pres needs to keep up with- making sure dues are collected and the PO.com registration gets taken care of. As you know PO.com requires a ANNUAL fee to be a member. When you become an NTPOG member you are supposed to get your PO.com membership for life. That's worth the $20 right there. The other big piece of it is that I get what's left over for hosting, which I've paid largely out of pocket since the site was just a few years old. A lot of peopl ehave offered to host the site for free, but I've had my fair share of "free" hosting and it's generally worthless. We are hosted by the same host as PO.com which means big bandwidth and we (for the most part) have no restriction on hosting space. Not sure if you notice but PO.com rarely goes down, too.
All that said I'd like to get back to the good ol' days but I don't have the time to do half the things I did almost 10 years ago when I helped get the club started. I'd love for someone to take this on and will be glad to mentor them through building up the club into something noteworthy again.
There were times when we went to BMW autocrosses and outnumbered the BMWs!!! We also got props at Texas A&M autocross events for having the largest turnout of any one model car.
Wow, thanks for all the support guys! I had called Doug yesterday before I posted this just to give him a heads up and he called me back last night and told me I should take over. So considering all the support here and from him I'll take it. Let's see if we can't make NTPOG into something big again! Thanks guys!
