Please vote on keeping our NTPOG forum!!!

In the event that the NTPOG forum can't be kept here, I'd like to find out what everyone would like to do:

1) Start our own forum on our own web site -- we could potentially have multiple forums like for tech info, events, off topic, etc. We would obviously have full control over it.

2) Approach a board like DallasImports or PreludePower about hosting a forum for us like po.com currently does.

3) Switch to something else, like a Yahoo Group or mailing list.

4) Have nothing. Select this option if for some reason you read this thread but think the forum is a waste of time.

As an added bonus I propose that we start our own board and give ntpog.org email accounts to all paying members. We can also provide space for member pages as well as picture hosting, etc.

Start our own. If we're not on PO we should be own our own.

If we keep relying on other forums to host us we will never be independant enough to allow growth..... as a club we should take the risk and responsibility of becoming independant and having our own site.....hopefully growing in the process..

I voted partner with another site.

If someone is willing to take responsibility for running our own site, we should have our own site in that case. If not, then we should partner up again.

I know that Todd would, or if not I'd be willing to do it.

I think partnering up gives us the best chance of survival and exposure, i dont think we are at the point were we could sustain ourselves....in the past yes, now not so much we need to gather more ground build up stronger support especially from members and then we can do it solo. Look at our fellow houston luders they can do it on there own......we should step up too.

^^ Good points!

If we're going anywhere I think it should be preludepower, they seem to have the most traffic. Plus they know me there!

I agree with parterning up. We don't have enough of a constant membership base to be on our own. Plus I'm sure Todd is really busy and doesn't have all the time to maintain a forum. Being supported by a big website like PO only helps get the word out about NTPOG. It's free advertising for us.

Plus I know a lot of the NTPOG members are pretty active there (Kevin, Carlos, Brian especially with all his sales)

i like it here

i don't want it to move to another site / seperate site. i'm not really that active but when i first saw the thread, i thought "just merge with OT" but after reading it, its a little more involved than that

I would set up the board, I would depend on some of you guys to help moderate it. As it is Billy and I are both mods on this board, we wouldn't need much moderating (i think) of NTPOG members. I don't think this is a reason not to go for our own board.

I do see the potential increase in traffic as a plus, though I would dare say that the increase any other board would create would probably be of low quality, at least compared to NTPOG. then again there is very little increased traffic here as the reader/membership here is fairly low.

My first preference is to do our own but if the majority want preludepower or another board I'll try and get something set up. Beware that they may want us to pay something, if their advertising dollars aren't making them a lot of money.

I have no idea if 1) the new owners will let us keep the forum 2) if the site will continue to be as fast 3) if we will have any say in moderating this forum ourselves if it stays etc., etc.

Obviously the first and easiest preference is to just stay.

I'm not well liked by one of the moderators over at PP, as I told him to pound sand because I didn't much care for his attitude.

If we do it on our own, you guys are going to have to be willing to cough up some annual dues to pay for the site!

I'm willing to help in any way possible, stay, go, partner, or on our own. It makes no difference to me. I'm hoping to have some good tech to add soon too with all the little (and big) projects going on lately.

P.P is a clusterfvck! i like this board better even tho we dont get as much traffic as we need to but atleast there is some sort of decorum when it comes to members and the posts that are here.

This is something I personally want to avoid. I don't know how the new owners will be but if they run the board like most other boards... let's just say I prefer private ownership.

If we need a hosting site, I can get us a good discount over at Dreamhost which starts at 500GB of space and 5TB of transfer... it ends up being like $5-7 a month... it requires a discount code, but I have it.

I think you guys would attract the WRONG kind of people over at DI (I avoid sites like that because of the high concentration of buy racers)... NTPOG was once its own thing and it could be again.

If we're not on PO I think we need to be on our own. I agree with ^^ about DI.
