Identity Theft

So it finally happened to me. I shred literally everything, including junk mail with my name on it. Then TWO companies contact me in the last 6 months saying they've "lost" laptops with my SSN on them. I have a credit monitoring account and it will text me with changes to my credit report. So - last night a past due acct shows up that is not mine. This happens just when I applied to get my house too.

Just wanted to give a heads-up to you guys if you aren't watching your credit. I heard it would happen eventually to everyone. Get your free annual credit report from annualcreditreport.com if you haven't this year.

I've contacted the credit agency and am starting the process tomorrow morning. I heard it's near impossible to get these things resolved too. sorry... had to talk it out...I wish painful bad things to those who can't earn their own.

I should buy the house and then a car and then trash my credit on big screens and pool tables.

go on a spending spree and then file bankruptcy, after 7 years you'll be good to go.

same thing happened to my dad. someone was using his card to buy tv's and laptops at BB in California. They ended up arresting the guy but he had to go through a lot to get everything cleared.

I just had someone steal my debit card number and address/phone a couple weeks ago. They ran up about $1500 before the bank shut the card down and called me. Thankfully, they got me the money back quickly. Apparently they kept trying the card for 3 days after that, some 30 transactions a day....crazy stuff.

^solving crime (and raising taxes because of a low crime rate) is more work than just writing a few tickets
