Hello! I am considering selling my beloved red 2001 Prelude SH - I have an opportunity to help my brother out by taking over the payments on his WRX, but would need to sell my car first.
Location: Narragansett, RI. Asking price: $5500. Red 2001 Honda Prelude SH, stock, manual transmission, 150k miles on the body, 100k on the engine (swap done with 85k on body, 35k on engine). Lots of highway miles, as I have a 65 mile daily commute. Just spent $2500 on her last month, which got me a new cat, oxygen sensors, brake pads all around, front brake rotors, control arm, and a few other minor things - just passed inspection, which is good until May 2012. (4) new Z-rated Riken Raptor tires purchased Thanksgiving 2009. Clutch was replaced about 50k miles ago. Synthetic oil changes every time.
Car is in good but not perfect condition. Biggest imperfections: the ATTS traction control is currently not working - I was told by a mechanic that it needed a $200 sensor and it would cost $250 in labor, and I didn't have the cash to get it done. Also, The car burns about a quart of oil between oil changes. Beyond that, minor dings and scratches on the body, paint is somewhat faded on the spoiler and roof, rubber on door sills starting to show its age. Overall, still looks sweet and pulls strong.
Kelly Blue Book puts the private party value at $5500. Since I just put $2500 into her and I have $2500 remaining on my car loan, plus the $600 tires in November, I'd really like to get $5500 so I can walk away "even" (not counting my car loan and maintenance the past 4 years lol).
