1998 Prelude Type SH, parts car, 160k

Hey everyone,

Im sad to say that I have to get rid of my prelude. I can't afford to fix it anymore. I hate to see it go out this way but I got to. About two years ago, I had the top end completely rebuilt by a friend of a friend who was a certified Honda mechanic. It cost me about 1900 with labor and upgraded (skunk2) valves. After that, the lude was running like a champ until a couple days ago. The engine started to knock real bad and it only got worse as I drove it so I decide to take it to a different mechanic to take a look at it. While on the way the engine died and wouldn't start up again. So I got it towed to my buddy place for him to strip the block down and see what was up. Turns out that when he was rebuilding the top end he didn't completely tighten down the cam bolt. When my buddy took of the head he found the cam broken in half. I was looking to sell it once I got it fixed but I don't have the money to get the car running again. My loss, your gain.

I want to part out the car or sell it whole as a parts car. If you want to buy the car whole it will cost you about 2200. Besides the top end and some paint (driver fender needs to be painted) , the car is in great shape. I have an injen cold air intake and a short shifter which I put on my self. Other than those two upgrades, the car is stock. So if anybody needs a some used oem parts or want to buy the intake/short shifter for a 5th gen lude, please let me know

How much for your passenger door panel and passenger door jam insert, and the little kick panel under the center console on the right side of the drivers side? It's a little carpet covered piece that just pulls out. Take it easy on me lol, I'm just trying to piece mine back together on a part-time job >.<

Hey everyone again,

Last night I went over to my buddy's house to take some pictures of the Prelude. I also talked to him about what happened. The intake cam gear was not torqued right. The cam gear started to come lose, grinding away the cam bolt. Eventually the bolt couldn't take it anymore and shattered. When this happened, cylinder #4 head got messed up. I'm not sure what happened to It but my mechanic used the gasoline trick and with in a half and hour, the cylinder was empty. Most likely the intake valves got bent but I would need to take the intake manifold apart to really take a look at it. I talked to my mechanic to see how much money it would take to get it running again and he said it would be about a $1000. For somebody who wants to do it themselves, it would be around $450.

I want to try and sell the car whole first before I start ripping apart. I will lower my asking price to $2000 but since I have been getting a lot of emails and phone calls about parts I will give anybody who wants to buy the car whole until Monday (4/18) morning to make me an offer for the car. If I don't get any offers by then, I'm going to start stripping apart the car and selling it piece by piece.

PS. Please e-mail me if you are interested in parts or to bu the car whole. I have my iphone sync to my email account so I get them as soon as you send them. It also makes things alot easier for me to kepp track of everyone. If you must, you can give me a call. I cant check the fourm all the time so if you try and get a hold of me this way it will take me awhile to get get back to you. I also have more pics if interested.
