Exactly my point. Look at this post:

H22 and H23 Prelude OEM Parts

This should come up under "alternator", because it is very recent.

Another test is "swain". The earliest thread that shows up is from April 2003, which is wrong. My thread is here: WERD! Swain coated gears are in! Pics inside..., which I created a month ago.

Like I said, searching is broken.

Maybe they haven't finished rebuilding the search index after the upgrade.

I just upgraded my board to vb3, and "rebuilding the search index" was one of the vital steps. Mind you my board is tiny compared to this one, and it took about 30 minutes to complete. I'm assuming it has something to do with that.

Searching has definately been fixed by now, if you still can't find it, then it isn't there
We did purge the forums link ywwong said, to 30 days, becuase the size of the post database was over 4 gigs...

Searching is still broken.

Do a search for "swain". The most recent thread is the one I have been updating about my coated gearset. I posted there less than 1 week ago in the General forum. It does not show up in the search page. Here is a direct link to the thread: WERD! Swain coated gears are in! Pics inside....

I urge you to try this for yourself, I am not making this sh!t up.

I think this is a serious problem. There is probably a lot of forum knowledge that is not accessible right now, and that means a lot of unnecessary questions will be posted to the other forums....

Here is how searching works when you reindex the search database. It takes the first post of every old post, and indexes the words for that first post. The index is 6 gigs big, and is NOT on a high priority list to be fixed if it does need fixed. Sorry.

I cannot pull up any of the past threads that had discussions of Long Term Fuel Trim. These were threads that were in the General, 5th Gen, and NA forums. There were nearly ten different threads. In the past a simple search for 'ltft' would bring up all of these threads. The only thread that comes up now is a thread posted in General today.

Ok, search is broken for me too.
Tried to locate an old post by me in the 4th gen section.
searched for all posts in 4th gen under my username, and it told me 'no results'
I found it by sorting the forum "from the beginning" and putting it in poster name order.

Can the search database please be fixed?

I started each post, so those threads should have showed up based on your description of the indexing feature, Dan.

I agree.

Telling newbies to SEARCH doesn't carry quite the same weight as it used to . . . .

Searching has been indexed twice since the move. It indexed successfully, and without some type of searching hack, will not be indexed again. So, for now, we have to live with it.
