i'm guessing its some kinda way to generate some kind of traffic? i know there are some web ppl here, why would you want to redirect links? to see what ppl are linking?

^ Any link posted in a message becomes a redirect link, though I can't for the life of me get it to work in the preview pane...

However, in my testing, and I've noticed it recently with other links, it seems that the site will query the page being linked and automatically adjust any hyperlink to show the "title" of the page as the link name...

example:
Code:
http://www.google.com
will result in something that looks like Google, even though I didn't type it out as
Code:
{url=http://www.google.com}Google{/url}
I couldn't use brackets within the code tags, though, or it would automatically convert it, for some reason. Looks like I'll be making a thread in here again

EDIT: it seems that the redirect is a bit finicky... I can't get it to consistently preview properly in this thread. Odd... Also, I can't use the code tags to show the redirect, it gets removed automatically. Go look at any of the message links in a recent thread, and mouse over them, see what the url says.

but if i post it in the thread archive forum or other sub-forums it will show the redirect

No it's annoying when you're trying to right click > save as files as well because it will try to redirect you and open the file instead of letting you save it somewhere.

if you try posting a link in any of the other sub-forums EXCEPT this one (bugs, comments, suggestions), it shows a redirect link. You can't right-click save-as on files anymore because of the redirect.

It works fine here in Bugs, Comments, Suggestions though, bah.

Ooooooooooooohhhhhhh I see what you mean now.

I just went back and looked at the links, and yeah they are all site redirects. For the record I have no idea what the reason for this is.

How come none of the admins are addressing this thread? It's been up for more than a week.

and btw, the whole re-labeling of links so that it shows the title of the website can get pretty rediculous. take a look at this post:

http://www.preludeonline.com/2797426-post6.html

he's just trying to link to slhondaparts.com and hondaautomotiveparts.com, and instead it shows those bigass titles, lol

+1

I had a little respect for them in the beginning when they where listening and trying to compromise with us. Now, they don't seem to address any thread or PM. A simple post "were working on it" would be enough to know at least they took time out to read it and not let us rant for this long, but they don't seem to be bothered to do that either. Sorry, but you guys suck at being admins.
