Yes, another colder plug thread

Alright, I'm running a dry Zex kit, jetted for a 55 shot. It's cold out (~4 degrees celcius), and with no bottle heater I'm probably running around 600 psi. I've been running on my stock plugs with no signs of detonation at all, but since it's getting warmer and the PSI is going to go up, I figure I should be safe and get some colder plugs.

Now, I've seen way too many different suggestions. Axion68: you seem to know what you're talking about.. I read in one post you suggested ZFR6F-11's for a ~50 shot. They're not actually a colder heat range, but since they're copper they do run colder. Would this be sufficient for my usage, or would you suggest going to an actual conder heat rage too, like a ZFR7F-11?

TIA.

NGK told me to run bkr7e plugs, they have a shorter reach than the zfr7f, and are less likely to break/melt while spraying.

The -11's are gapped more than NOS recommends. BKR7Es work. Simple as that.

And that's basically the same plug as the ZFR7F-11, just shorter reach and gapped less? Will there be any noticable performance loss over the stock Platinum's?

In that post I'm pretty sure I would have suggested retarding the timing some, as that is the setup I'm running (stock heat range and 3 degrees retard). Keep in mind this is for an NX 50 shot. Slap some 1 step colder plugs in it and you should be fine. As laughin recommended run the BKR7E plugs since the grounding strap doesn't pertrude as far, and that is what NOS and NGK recommend

I notice no difference in day to day driving. The colder plugs will reduce performance, but by such a minute amount, it isn't even worth thinking about.

I have colder plugs, and didn't notice any difference in performance and that was with my timing at -3*.....but just to be sure, I advanced my timing to +3* when I wasn't going to spray. The cold weather is tough even with a bottle heater. It took 1.5hrs to heat from 500-900 if I remember correctly.
I guess I'd better invest in a blowtorch for late winter early spring spraying.
