VENOMâ„¢ VCN-2000 Nitrous Oxide System

do you need a laptop to program the venom kit? or could you program it with a desktop then hook it up in the car? I was thinking of picking up the Venom Kit 2000, I want to know if I have to get a laptop also.

I was talking about this KIT

VENOMâ„¢ VCN-2000 Nitrous Oxide System
The VCN-2000 (patent pending) is the most advanced Nitrous Oxide Injection System in the world. Venom's Advanced Dual Processor Management Module combined with Venom's Patented Nitrous Oxide Metering Valve ensures optimum performance. The module is user programmable using Venom's proprietary software (available to you for free downloading at www.Venom-Performance.com). Thisadvancednitrous oxide system allows you to program how much nitrous oxide is injected with the click of a mouse. You can custom program three modes of operation: Linear Mode, Drag Mode, or Timed Mode.

You can custom program the module to obtain maximum performance gains from 10-175+ horsepower. There are no "pills" or "jets" necessary. Venom's module ensures the optimum air fuel mixture by using your existing fuel injectors andoxygen sensor. This advanced module ensures the optimum air fuel ratio at any bottle pressure and will automatically terminate the introduction of nitrous oxide if the air fuel mixture becomes too lean. This feature greatly reduces the risk of engine damage.Venom's driver display constantly informs you of critical engine data. RPM, Injector Pulse Width, Throttle Angle, Exhaust Status (rich/lean), Operating Mode and System Status are all displayed.

Kits come complete with:

Palm Computer
Programming Software
Computer Control Module
Nitrous Oxide Nozzles
Wiring Harness
Nitrous Oxide Solenoid
Nitrous Oxide Bottle
Bottle Brackets
Hoses And All Fittings
Driver Information Display w/Switch
Instruction Manual & Tuning Guide

It is too expenseive IMO and kinda complicated for what it does. All kits run on the same nitrous, and NX among other kits have been proven to be reliable. Another plus is that NX/NOS are wet kits, I believe the vennom is a dry kit. For the money of the Vennom you could basically have a sweet little DP nitrous system.

Unless you are going to be doing a major amount of engine work there is no reason to spend the money on that kit. It would be cool to do that stuff, but its definately not needed. I would say go with NX if you want great quality and power.

It is very easy to program.. very fast.. simple... I had the install professionally done, but now that I know alot more about my car.. I would do it myself.. it would take the same time ... maybe about an hour more to do than a normal kit. I have had great gains from this kit. I love it... the programmability and versatility is awesome. but to each his own... some people have different tastes. I like it and have great numbers on the dyno to prove its worth. I posted them up in other threads if you want to check them out.
