Solenoid Maintenance?

I will be runnin Super Powershot noids when I get my motor finished and my kit on; how can I prevent my fuel noid from goin out and possibly blowin my motor? Is there anything you can do to keep it from failing?

only open your bottle when you are spraying, don't leave it open driving around or overnight. Purge your lines after you close your bottle to releive any pressure in the lines.

I generally don't have my bottle open for more than 15 minutes. It might be overkill but they way I have my n2o setup it doesn't take much to open the bottle.

Kris may be able to suggest a rebuild kit. I think he rebuilt his with different seals. Ultimately I would dig up some Cheaters on ebay, or just bite the bullet and by some new ones. The ~$200 you'll spend will be worth it. Fortunately my n2o noid went out, and I was just spraying fuel....Not the other way around. The power**** for my purge died also.

Easy go NX.
I actually never had a problem with the PS fuel noid. I don't think the pressure was high enough to deform the seal, like it did in my nitrous noid several times. The final solution to my PS nitrous noid problem was to get a cadnium seal from NOS. NOS sells replacement noid coils and seals, but they aren't any stronger than what is in there from the factory from what I can tell. Either way I was rebuilding my nitrous noid after each run because of damaged seals.

Personally I'd run a cheater noid or NX noids, but for maintenance on the PS or any noid you'll want to buy a rebuild kit which will come with a tool for breaking down the noid. Use this and inspect the seal. It should be flat. If you see an obvious nipple protruding from the seal then it's time to replace it. Check the coil and the wires coming from it for wear. Replace the coil if you are worried about it.

This pro NX stuff is getting old. Seriously, the only thing better about the NX kit is that the noids hold up longer to a controller. I have ran NOS powershot noids for 10 bottles now, with no problems, and we all know what powershot noids are the worst that NOS uses. Seriously, are you people being sponsered by NX. This isnt an attack against anyway one person, but I think it bogus to tell a person to sell his NOS or ZEX kit for an NX kit for no reason other than its supposedly the best. If your running a 75 shot or smaller, they all work just as good as their competators. "NX is better, look at dyno's, they prove that NX is the best."

1. NX uses a special material in their seals that allows for proper sealing and alot of abuse. They already ditched cadnium because of problems with leaks, while NOS is still recommending cadnium seals for progressive controllers. Also all of the NX noids come with these seals, while the best that NOS noids come with from the factory are teflon seals. Having good noids is the key to a successful nitrous kit. In my mind any advantage you can get in this dept. is worth the money.
2. That's great. I rebuilt mine four times in one season. That's $160 for those at home keeping track.
3. No, I was in wichita falls visiting a friend and went to an NX distribution center to get a spare filter to replace the leaky NOS nitrous filter. While I was there I drilled one of the guys there about noids. He provided me with info that convinced me that NOS was not the way to go. With the success that people have had on here with NX kits I feel that my feelings are justified.
4. Most people want to put the best parts in their car especially when the additional cost is minimal. Either way we still told him how to keep up his PS noids as best we know how.
5. Shot size has nothing to do with a noid's reliability. Maybe you know something I don't. Please enlighten me if you do.
6. Well that's definately a BS statement. Most kits on the market can be tuned to make good power. Luckily this post was about noids, so that statement is pretty much irrelevant.

Sarcasm (sp?) was intended on the last one there. The reason I said that about shot size was because noone running a 75 shot or smaller would need a controller, which seems to be the main thing to kill NOS noids. Anyway, I got off track with what I was trying to say. I have heard people say on more than a few occasions to buy NX because it makes the most power. We both know that is crap. If your gonna be using a controller, you might as well go with NX, but if your not, I think NOS, ZEX, and NX will all hold up just fine.

Everyone likes NX because so few of us have had problems with it.........I have nothing against NOS, it just seems that more people have problems with their system......if there stuff wasnt adequate they wouldnt be around right now. And its not just this forum, check out nitrous forums on ls1.com or mustang forums or whatever and you will find that most people rate NX over NOS.....just an observation.

Thats cool, but sometime people make it sound like NOS is junk, and since I run a NOS system, and havent had any problems, I dont like to hear that kind of talk. Does that make sence? Like you said, NOS has been around for a long time, and their kits are high quality. Hopefully the competition from NX will get them to produce a set of noids that can handle a controller.

The point is that Wreckdiver and I both had PS noids crap out on us under normal use(ie. without a progressive controller). Some people have good luck with them and some don't. With NX nobody that I know of has had problems. Also I have had to replace the fittings on the NOS purge kits to keep them from leaking. I just go off of my own experiences.
