Should I up my shot 55-->65?

I am thinking of uping the shot to 65 with my zex dry kit, BUT I do not have an upgraded ignition, only one step colder plugs.

I figure a 65 shot from zex is probably only like a 45 shot to the wheels, so if the zex guys can do it with just plugs at a 50 shot than I should be fine to do the same.

Am I stupid? Comment and vote please.

It should be ok, but I'd keep a very close eye on the plugs.

I'm running a 65 zex shot with only plugs. No problems after like 4 months.

I've been using a zex 65 shot on my ss lude for quite some time now. It's been almost two years in fact. You should be fine w/out the ignition. I am using zex plugs on my car and I love them. I know some people say they suck but I have had good experiences with them. My current mods are I/H/E/P/Zex plugs/65shot. Also, over here in El Paso, the highest octane gas they have is 91. So I've been running a 65 shot w/ only 91 octane gas and haven't had any kind of problems. Just check your plugs if you try it and see what they read out.

Try it and check your plugs often. I and wreckdiver have run a 70 shot on our SS with stock plugs and have had no problems.

I don't think it would cause any permanent damage if you ran it once and detonated one time and never used it again.

A little "minor" detonation wont kill you engine...any more than a little will start breaking things.....just dont detonate...thats no good.....you should be fine without an ignition......Id say up it!

you should be fine with one step colder plugs and a 65 shot. Hell, I'm running an NX 50 shot (should be close to a 65 shot of ZEX) on stock plugs and a slight timing retard and don't have any detonation.

Mine still runs fine and I was detonating all day at NPM. I really should have checked my new setup before going to steele.
