What you want is a bottle opener that actually operates the valve. The Zex opener does this. Some operate on a selenoid that leaves the valve open and just keeps the gas behind the selenoid.
Yes, the NX operates the valve. The NOS one is the only one I know off the top of my head that uses a solenoid with the bottle open at all times.
Hm.. Yeah, I guess that's not a good thing huh? I have a NOS bottle opener. I hope it holds well.

a bottle opener is one of those parts that are pretty much all the same (in terms of function and reliability(....If you have an NOS one Id just stick with it.....I prefer an NX style unit, but its not that necessarry.....
Got the ZEX/Nx.. works great.. though I think that the solenoid type ( NOS ) it is easier ( faster ) to remove the bottle for refils

and if you get the nos one, can you open the bottle and leave it open or do you have to worry about it ruining the nos "opening" solenoid like you have to worry about it ruining the actual spraying solenoids if you didnt have the opener
According to the nos site, the nos switch is different. A solenoid requires constant power thru a relay to remain open, where as this control valve only has power applied momentarily to open or close the valve indefinetley. I thought about it, and it does seem a lot easier to remove the bottle than the other ones because the other bottle openers replace the valve, right?

hmmm....does that mean everytime the car is turned off the solenoid is automatically closed? That would be a nice little safety tid bit.

When your car is turned off or you aren't giving power to your switch the solenoids are always closed. The problem is that the pressure in the line will usually force its way past the solenoid. If you have a purge kit, open your bottle, then close it and purge. If you open your bottle, close it, then purge 24 hours later, the results will be very different.

Past the NITROUS solenoid you mean? Or do you mean the solenoid for the bottle opener? If you meant the nitrous solenoid, then yeah, it slips through those kind of easily right? With the bottle opener it wouldn't be able to slip through those (supposedly).
