Question about 50 Shot NOS and 5th gen lude...

Alright, well here go my questions. LOL. I got a 98 lude, CAI, DC Header, Pulleys, Exhaust and Stage 3 Clutch. Any way - I'm sure this was discussed before, but my question is how safe is it to put a 50 Shot NOS on my car. I understand that nothing other than NA is really 'safe' for my car and that it will put strain on the engine, but nowadays I see tons of people running 50 shot NOS and having really no problems on stock internals. So for one, I want to know how bad it really is on our H22A4's. Also - if I put NOS, do I need to do anything else to my engine so that it runs better and puts less strain on the car. And also - is NOS street legal. I heard somebody say that its illegal if the bottle is open, but if its closed and a cop stops you that its absolutely fine since you can't remotely open it from your trunk. Any ways - get back to me guys...

Get colder spark plugs, air fuel filter, Aem fuel rail (not really worth it), common sense when spraying

Then learn to call it nitrous instead of "NOS" and you're all set

Hehe. I hate people that call it NAAWS. I think that's ***. I call it juice or nitrous. I never call it nos - i don't even know why I did. I guess just easier on the eye. Any ways - what else do I have to do to make my car run good and reliable with juice? Any suggestions?

They just came out with a remote bottle opener. Really cool and super convenient. Bottom line is that your engine is going to burn hot. 50 shot is definitly on the low end of the gas range but still your internals are put under tremendous stress once you push that button not to mention your clutch and transmission.

I ran 75 shor for 4 months before going turbo and as long as you use some sense about it you'll be fine.

What do you mean by sense about it. Like not using often or building up the engine or what?

I just mean don't go crazy like some people do and be happy with what your running. I don't know how many people I know who throw 55 shot on their stock Civic's and then act like their car is king and throw 75 shot or 100 cause 55 was fine and blow their **** up.

Use it reasonably, if you're going through bottles in like 3 days then let off a bit. Use it for onlt 15 seconds at a time and give your car a break between runs. Try not to slam into the rev limiter a lot. Don't miss shifts, etc.

Also, don't shoot while you're below 4000rpm and I also wouldn't shoot in 5th gear for extended periods of time. These are 2 instances where the engine is working it's hardest to accelerate and you adding alot of heat to the combustion chamber isn't going to help

Yes they do have the remote bottle opener, I just ordered it from Summitracing.com (part #NOS-16058 it is $158.95) but that makes life easier, so many times I wish the bottle was open and it was closed, but no matter. Also get the purge kit (NOS-16030 $94.95) it looks neat and is functional, although you don't have to have, just hit the micro switch while system is armed and car is off, then the remaining Nitrous in the line will hit the throttle body and go into the atmosphere. Purge kits are great when lining up a race, good intimidation factor Just don't over use it.

READ THE POST

What I said was you don't have to have the purge kit! You need to purge remaining nitrous whenever you turn the bottle off to get the old **** out of the lines, so i told you how to purge the car IF you DON'T have the proper purge kit (turn car off and hit micro switch). But yes you can purge the kit with a proper kit and have it shoot out wherever you want, i just did one tonight Read the post next time sorry if it was confusing.

that is how mine is but you are serving no benefit to purging it when the flow is constant, just showing off

what would happen if you mis a shift when spraying? would a RPM window switch be a smart idea? and which would be better a wet or dry kit?
