Preparing for Nitrous

Im getting some preparation done to my car before I put in NItrous. Im almost decided on a NOS Single fogger kit 75 shot The timing belt, water pump, New spark plugs and wires (NGK). Im going to get some new cams as well. One thing i was considering was if a new intake mani and throttle bottle would be worth the trouble. Any advice pos/neg would be appreciated.

Current setup; AEM V2, Dc Headers,Apexi ws2 w/testpipe

Ditch the NGK's and go with a set of colder plugs, try sourcing Zex plugs, you'll burn up your regular plugs in a heart beat and your car will run smoother on the juice with colder plugs as well. If you going to be taking apart that side of the engine you might as well replace everything thats there, more importantly your tensioner, but there are also things like belts, harmonic balancer & cam seals. Unless your moto is "if its not broke then don't fix it" but I'd really recommend changeing your Tensioner as well. You'll love the 75 shot. If you have an Automatic you'll really love it. Another good thing to invest in is a purge valve. As for timing I haven't retarded my on a 75 shot and I've gone through 5 bottles with no problems. You may notice that your valve train will get louder at first(my experience, yours may vary). Be sure to tighten that if that happens. Depending on where you mount your bottle, you may also want a remote bottle opener, I don't have one because my bottle is in the center of the back seat...covered with a jacket of course.

How can I tell if the plugs are a step or 2 steps colder compared to my stocks. Is it clearly stated. I only have 60k on the motor but i just want to do all the preventative maintenance possible. I also have a question about the purge valve, Im just wondering if the gases are going to be visible upon expulsion. Or at least heard...??

You don't need a purge
You can tell how cold a plug is by the part number. 6 is stock, 7 is 1 step colder.. etc

To be honest I think the purge valve would be cool for show, that is if it really expels gas with sound and visuals.

a purge kit is more out of convenience than anything else. when you get your bottle filled for the first time, you can connect the bottle to the lines and open it up, then use the purge to clear the lines of air. you will see it purge, since that is the entire point of having it, so you know that the line is free of air and only a plume of nitrous will come out of the purge valve.

if you don't want to use a purge kit, install the bottle, open it up, and under the hood you will need to disconnect the line from the solenoid until you see nitrous coming out, then reinstall the line before you lose too much juice.

either way works, but if you are on a budget, wait til you have more cash for the purge kit and invest in the manual tensioner swap for the H22.

here's an illustration video of an SRT-4 with a dual purge line setup. where you place the exit for the purge will determine where the plume goes, of course. in this vid, it looks like he's clearing his lines the same way you would do if you were going to after installing the newly filled bottle.

Yeah you can definately hear the purge, it sounds like a loud snowy T.V. And most of the time you can see the gas. I have mine mounted in the front grill in front of the radiator shooting out of the grill, which was just a convenient place at the time, I've seen them in other places too. Sure you don't need a purge but intimidation is a nice thing to have. But with out one your still a stop light terror.

As far as plugs are concerned I had good luck with one step colder NGK copper plugs. I'd also suggest something like the Nitrous Express Gen II kit which includes a purge, pressure gauge, and bottle heater. I you have extra money to burn a remote bottle opener is always nice.
