Oil consuption ??'s

Ok.. I know typically VTEC engines.. burn a little more oil than usual.. but I was wondering what you guys have noticed on your rides as far as oil consumption goes. Do you find that since having nitrous it has increased?? I am interested in all of your thoughts and experiences. Please let me know.

Thanks.

Can't help you much on this one, my car has never burned any oil between changes, and that hasn't changed over the last 2 years of nitrous use.

Hmmm.. see I did a search and I found that normally. between oil changes.. if VTEC is used often.. ( dont ask me how they determine what constitutes using VTEC often ) but.. I had read in other posts.. it is typical .. that it burns about 1 quart of oil between oil changes.. I have noticed that this is true with my car.. by about 1/2 quart.. and I use synthetic.. but.. I also can't say whether if it is from nitrous use or not.. cause ever since I had the car.. I pretty much had nitrous on it.. so I have nothing to reference it off of.. I guess Ill have to do some research.. my compression is good.. and so are my plugs.. ( I hit the 85 shot 3 times yesterday.. holy ****s!! ) I was just wondering what everyone elses oil consumption was like .. and if anyone had anything noticeable...

my oil consumption hasn't changed with nitrous use. I have always gone through almost a quart between changes.

I have never burned any oil between changes. I think the type of oil used makes a difference.

I personally don't think any FI car should be using anything less than 10w30

I don't care if honda says to use 5w30 for most climates or 10w30 for hotter ones. 5w30 is just too thin to do the job for what most of us use our cars for.

My SS diden't burn oil but then again I switched it to synthetic at 21k and my SH burns about a quart in 5k but I think she was abused before and I diden't switch her over to syn. untill 60k. Go figure. Hard on both of them.

I usually dont do an oil change until abotu 6K cause I use synthetic... and I noticed I burnd 1 quart ... so I added a quart more and now I am monitoring the progress with a log I started.. so far 1K and no oil lost.. ( just did an oil change )

It's probably because you wait until 6k for the change. I can't tell if I am burning oil, I just pour it into the oil pan, and most of the time I miss the pan.

reading your post we might be having the same issues with our cars, with the piston. i dont do the nitrous thing i have 2 kids and i have enough road rage on a country road i dont need anymore fuel to the road rage fire. but i bought this car from a kid that lived near by, i noticed he stop driving it and it started just collecting grass around it so i went and bought the car and i wanted it for a scrap car for mine cause my husband backed into mine and knocked it on the other side of the yard??idk how he did it but when i got his car like mine good condition actually the ext and interior looked better thn my car get it home and it has a prelude engine nitrous loud huge exhast system everything was put on this car the right way im losing the nitrous and the exhaust and i plan to drive this car but piston 3 has low compression but if o give it a shot of oil the compression test is back up there like the others, it cranks up and runs fine no smoke at all since its a stick cant really tell if im losing power, but i can replace a ring but not a piston ,you have any advice
