Now we're making progress! 13.37@108mph

Well, after battling traction issues last friday night and getting only 5 passes, its finally coming together! I went to GLD last night for some fun and I got it. 1st goal of the night was to learn how to launch with all this new found power so I kept the bottle off and practiced my all motor launching. I was on BFG Drag Radials, and the car was exactly as it sits for street driving. I was running consistent 14.5's with 2.2 60' times and had a best of 14.41@97mph. Now it was time for some Nitrous! I started out running effortlessly in the high 13's then mid 13's and hit my best of 13.37@108mph. This was after 2 hrs of straight dragging, logging 15 runs. I was beating everything that lined up next to me!
STi(13.8)
NeonSRt(13.8)
C5 Vette(13.7)
Maxima(14.2)
Z28(14.0)
Mustang(14.xx)
The list goes on...........
I will be going back to the track looking for lower track temps, a little more traction, and a little more power. I am going to try to run (0) timing retard and 100 octane to avoid detonation in my QUEST for 12's on a stock bottom end!
Stay tuned for more results next week!

Well, after talking to some people and gathering what I could; Its seems like launching on a 100 shot is alot to ask. I am going to try launching a little lower next time(5000 or so)and set the front tires to ~15psi, with 45psi in the rear.(Raising the rears makes for less drag because they balloon up and have less tread on the ground). There are still a few factors I have to play with so shaving 0.3-0.5 off is realistic.
The 125 shot 1-2-3 stage should also help out with launching, but for now I am going to see how far I can get with the 100 shot single stage fogger.

Nice work Clint! What 60ft did you run on the 13.3? Were you having traction problems at the launch? I would think getting it to hook up quickly on a 100shot would be difficult.

Well, after logging 25 runs that night with 10...13 second runs....& 15...14 second runs I was running consistent low 2.2's with a best of 2.171. On my 13.3 run it was a 2.208 I believe which tells me I AM NOT using nitrous in my 60' time, but after studying the slips, I AM using it in the 330'. I have launched with nitrous, and went 2.4-2.5 spinning the tires through 1st and that caused me horrible 2nd gear traction as a result. Sure I could throw on the slicks and run 1.7-1.8's no problem, but I want the 12.999 on Drag Radials in Street-Trim. Thats the goal to close off the season. I would also like to see lower 14's on Drag Radials All motor. Lower launch, less spin.....2.0 60' times are there. If I can run 14.4 with 2.2's, a 14.0-14.1 is attainable with 2.0's. Of course the 13.9 would be nice, but 1 step at a time. Again with the slicks, I could run 23" MH's and grab a 13.9 with a little practice.
Not bad for a 2700lb 4cyl! I think it'll make people who spent the money having their block sleeved for All motor cringe when I do that.
I also have some plans to bump the compression a little for next season. Going to try to get it a little over 11:1 with my 1-2-3 stage Direct Port/Fogger setup I could even see low-mid 12's on slicks! STOCK BLOCK!!!! And if this motor fails, I have a beautiful DARTON Closed deck H22a1 with Crower Rods & CP 9:1 Pistons chilling at the shop ready for CRAZY BOOST or INSANE 250+ Shot Nitrous Setup!

Well if weather holds, I am going back to the track this week looking for my 12.999 on a stock block before we call it quits for the year in Chicago.
My list of changes that will hopefully slingshot me into the high 12's on Drag Radials:
13psi in front & 45psi in rear tires
100 octane and only -1* Ignition
5000rpm launch
Mid 50's-low 60's Temp outside
We'll see what happens! This may be my last time Dragging with nitrous before I do my Ridiculous Turbo Setup this winter.
