nosssss

i was thinking about puttin my ss on the bottle... either that or save up for a manual conversion. i don't really know much about nos, but i was gonna research it some more... just one question. what do you need to do after you use nos? i have seen stuff about cleaning kit (that's not the name i can't remember it). do you need to take out the spark plug wires after every run to check the plugs/shafts?

thnx

^ i kno... but u kno what i mean

the conversion just seems like it could be a potential pain in the arse.

how much have ppl paid for the conversion from start to finish (with tranny parts, labor, new ECU)? $2000-3000?

You can rewire your stock ECU to work on a manual and also instead of picking up a 5th gen tranny, you can go w/ a H23 tranny ($250-350?). It has longer gears so it will be useful for boosting . If you don't want to convert then you can run a 75 shot (MAX) of nitrous on your SS which would get you into the low 14s. But then you'll have transmission issues and you'll want to convert to manual again haha...So just do the manual conversion. You can get so much stuff that only manuals can have like LSDs (handling and launching) and lighter flywheel and better clutch to decrease loss from the drivetrain

Go with the juice.....or with the tranny....tough one....you could do alot of performance stuff with 2 or 3gs.......Id go with nitrous and some headwork......most bang for the buck......

if you have the time/tools just do the conversion yourself. You'll save TONS on labor. I just did mine like a week ago and I've never felt so much fun driving the lude. It's fairly easy to do as long as you have someone to help you lift that tranny back in place because they are quite a bit heavy. Overall I spent like 1k just for parts, no labor cost.

well prior to the swap all I did was just install electronics stuffs on my car, change the oil, brake pads/rotors and shocks/springs. If you have the Helms manual and pretty much can follow every step, your good to go (I guess). I must've read my Helms like a hundred times before I dived in to this project.

I would get the manual conversion over the nitrous. I speak from experience, a high mileage SS with nitrous will need replacement, get a manual. The launch on an SS is so bad a manual with bolt-ons will keep up. Get teh manual swap and then get nitrous.
