nitrous or turbo

I know the turbo or nitrous treads have been around for awhile but my situation is kind of awkward. I am about to go off to college and will be driving back home every weekend. The drive is about 45 minutes one way. So i will be doing some frequent traveling other than daily driving. I am debating on going with a fully built head + nitrous, or go turbo. I plan on doing a full race port and polish, ferrea valves, springs, retainers, and type s cams with like a 50 shot, or go with a custom built turbo kit. What do you guys think would be the better deal with me driving a lot and give me the best power gains? I want a 13 sec car daily driven with reliability. Any opinions would help. thanks.

1. turbo > nitrous : power
2. nitrous> turbo : price
3. if done right nitrous= turbo: reliability

you can hit 13's w/ a 100 shot of nitrous(DP is the best)

if you would ask me i would build the engine[and other stuff] and dump a 150 shot of nitrous... but that is just me

Nitrous is cheaper, and when done right, is very reliable. Go direct port, and spray a 75 shot. Its actually safer than a single fogger 50 shot. I think nitrous is better suited for the weekend warrior, and turbo is for people who want to drag race from stop light to stop light.

I would say go nitrous as well. Turbo will require more money in the long run and with driving long trips may not be the best thing. With the right nitrous setup you can make just as much power anyway or not more than all the turbo kits on the market.

you will also have a much better power curve, since there is no turbo to spool and you have a lot of hp/tq in the lower rpms.

well you can always go with a JRSC with the typical bolt ons and with a built head, LSD, and a stronger clutch you should have no problems attaining that 13 sec quarter mile.....
just my .02 cents....
nitrous is awesome though because you can't beat the price, period. and even better your car will drive just like stock except when a mustang pulls up next to you then you give him the finger and go for it.....i'm joking.....but you get the idea.......I would go with the direct port 75 shot as long as you do a compression check and make sure your fuel system is running good, spray all the way........
later.....

ok, long drives, plus daily driver, plus you're a college student?

I wouldn't do either. it doesn't sound like you can risk being without the car.

if I were going to do one, and I were in your situation, I'd do nitrous and limit the usage.
