nitrous purge solenoid?

anything special about the purge solenoid? i have a Top Gun solenoid that i received in a parted out kit and the guy told me that it was used for one summer and about 10-12 bottles were put through it. Is a purge solenoid just a normal n2o solenoid? could i just use that? Is it as big of a deal if that solenoid went bad since no nitrous would enter the motor from it?

just trying to save a few bucks but i guess if it isn't worth it, i won't try it.

would just a NOS superpowershot noid work?

I'm sure they would work, but I believe purge noids have a lot smaller orifice. My purge noide is a lot smaller than my n2o/fuel noids are, probably so you don't lose as much nitrous while purging. As it is with my NOS purge noid it takes about half a second for nitrous to come out, I imagine an actual n2o noid would purge a lot faster.

is axion68 right when he says that an actual n2o noid will purge a lot faster?

I didn't notice a difference when I switched from a regular purge noid to a powershot noid. It's pretty much irrelevant either way. You are only purging out bad/gaseous nitrous. Once the spray is white quit purging.

Another question, lol, i plan on installing my noids in my rain shield below the windshield like so many others...but i was wondering if there would be a problem if water got in there...isn't the rain shield allow rain under the top black cover to drain out the sides?

I haven't had a problem with it. Very little water can actually get in there because the hood covers up most of the holes.
