I just helped my friend instal a direct port nitrous kit on his 5th gen. We went on a test run and I couldn't tell when he was hitting the button. There is no difference! The solenoids all work, and nitrous is getting into the intake plenums. We tested this buy just having the power on to the car and hitting the microswitch. We heard the nitrous fill up the intake.
Any ideas? We had a bad bottle the first time, but he went back to the shop and they refilled it for free. They are supposed to be the best shop in town. Oh yeah, he has a purge kit and he purged the lines before he shot.

1. Did you check the plugs? You may be running excessively rich, which would cause you to lose power.
2. Which gear did you test it in?
3. What was your bottle pressure before you sprayed?
4. What color was the purge?
we didn't check the plugs after. I think his A/F gauge read rich. the spray was white when we purged. The only thing we can think of is that the pills are reversed, or the nitrous was bad. He didn't hook up the pressure gauge yet, but it was a completely full tank

He has it coming out at a 45 degree angle. I would estimate 3.5 feet or so, maybe a little less.
I am questioning the nozzle setup. We know that they are pointed in the correct direction, but it may be spraying into the plenum walls. Would that be a problem?

It would take a second longer to kick in, but there is no way that he wouldn't be feeling a 75 shot. The purge heighth sounds about right, too. Do you hear the solenoids click when you are at WOT? Check the plugs with spraying and without spraying. Then we can see if he's running rich all of the time or just when he's spraying.
Originally posted by jnkoh yes, the solenoids are opening up. We will check the plugs. Maybe the pills are reversed?
That's why I want you to check the plugs whe he is spraying and when he isn't. If they are only black after he sprays then he just needs to change his jets. If tehy are black all of the time, then he needs to lower his fuel pressure.
