Well, after 4 full blown Nitrous passes on the street through 4th gear, I raced my friends mid 13 second ITR, over-revved a bit, hit fuel cutoff, and devoured 2 spark plugs, and bent some valves.
It still runs, but sounds like a MB Diesel motor.....
I will come back stronger than before!!!
I will post pics as soon as the head is off....
Theres a post in the General forum right now of 2 of my nitrous runs!...
might be a knock that your hearing, that kinda sounds like what your saying

5/26/03 misshift (vafc's rpm mem. froze at 9844 rpms)
*Fresh rebuild 7/31/03*
**3/20/04....showin off on the bottle and ended up with one melted plug and another covered in oil

I am just glad this happened when it did, rather than while I was showing off at Nat'l Prelude Meet.
So it would turn on and off at certain RPMs?
Like on at 3000 off at 7000?
Indeed.
You can pick up a Mallory 685 digital ignitition and it has a window switch (high and low), rev limiter (high and low), automatic timing retard and a few other nifty features. And all this is programed on the digital display. More features than a MSD digital 6 and costs less.
My setup is wired so that when the nitrous system is armed at 2500 rpm the nitrous will start spraying (2500 rpm and WOT) all the way to 7500. The high rev limiter is set at 7600 rpm. It is also dropping 5 degrees of timing for an NX 75 shot and bkr7e plugs. When the system isn't armed the window swith does not work nor is there any timing being pulled.
1000 psi should've been ok. Just make sure that the bottle heater is keeping the nitrous pressure consistent or else all of your feul tuning is wasted. Especially watch out for those hot summer days.
1200 psi+perfect fuel tuning @1000 psi= tick tick BOOM.
Get on a dyno next time before you go pick on the shop owner.
Well, expecting the worst I am probably going to grab a JDM h22 longblock. I need lots of little parts for my Turbo Motor, and figure that will be the easiest way.
If I need to swap blocks....Oh Well! I get a 40-60k mile H22 instead of my 114k mile bottom end.
With all of the money I have into her now, the few $K this may cost me is nothing.
And you know Kris, all this to beat you!!!
Jason(a WI boy) got me started with Nitrous, and you got me very excited with your 13.6 Pass with mild mods.
As far as picking on my shop owner, he started with me!
It is nice to know I hung with a mid 13 sec. car at only 700 psi!!!
Finally seeing where all of my money went!.......
Thanks for your help Kris.
Well, in all honesty Kris, a mid 13 with my setup would be a let down. I am really aimed at high 12's on slicks with a 100 shot. I will have the power and potential traction, I just need to learn to launch it with nitrous now.
I was figuring high 12s on street tires if you get the thing tuned right and get some practice in. High 12s on slicks is about equal to mid 13s on street tires.
I can vouch for the fuel pressure safety switch. Reading your post makes me realize how lucky i've gotten. I've been dumb lately at the track trying to squeeze an extra .1 sec. I hit fuel cutoff twice in the past couple weeks while spraying in 1st gear. So I guess the NOS fuel safety switch was sufficient enough to save my engine as it sounds fine.
BTW, since I haven't posted here in awhile I'll give an update. I've stuck with the 50 shot and have been through 9 bottles. The tranny is the same as its always been and plugs always check out good. I guess with the warmer weather I won't be beating my best time as I keep pulling 14.6's even with the new pulleys.
