Nitrous first experience

Well I finally filled my bottle on Friday and went down to the track on Sunday. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to swap the stock spark plugs with the ngk brk7e's I bought, I did however use 94 octane gas.

So on my 99' SH I was running 15.4 - 15.5 1/4 miles without the juice (Heavy sound system!). With the juice I was able to run consistent 14.4 - 14.5s. I am using a ZEX kit and hit WOT only when I got traction in first. I kept spraying till the end (55 HP shot).

Funny thing occured on my last run (bottle pressure was way low), just before the finish I was going from 3rd to 4th, and all of a sudden the revs climbed like mad as I was shifting. I went into neutral right away. I doubt it was a mishift (into 2nd) but anything is possible.

Anyway, once I got off the track I noticed that the throttle response was normal but I had no Power Steering. When I opened the hood the PS belt was completely off and was a little torn up. Anyway, after a little fooling around under the hood the belt (albeit damaged) was back on. I slowly drove the car home.

So, my question is, does anyone have a possible explanation for what happened? I guess I don't want to believe that I mishifted since I would expect to have caused serious engine damage if I did. Also, is there anything I should check to ensure that I didn't damage any engine components?

did you check for detonation? Even with 94 octane detonation might be an issue. If you never checked you need to get in the habbit of doing so, detonation can take your top end out in a short amount of time.

You will get better times if you are spraying the whole time. You aren't making enough horsepower to completely light the tires up so you might consider this next at the track.

As for the belt, it may have come off from a combination of being a little loose (belts do stretch some) and the motor torquing over.

Check your plugs and check your compression.

Well I didn't have any problems with the clutch all day (I was expecting it to slip a bit). I'm gonna replace the belt, check the plugs and compression today. Will post my findings...
