Nitrous at the dragstrip???

Wassup guys, I have a 90 SI with a Zex 65 shot strapped on. For you guys with manual ludes what method of shifting do you use. I went to the track for my first semi-successful runs with nitrous. My starts were horrible and I was somewhat cautious about powershifting with the spray. What's your take on it.

BTW: Best run was a 15.378 @ 90.10mph with a 2.267 60ft and 9.969 1/8 (missed 2nd & 4th). again my starts sucked, and I'm sure I can knock a couple tenths off once I learn to nail them.

Engine Setup: JDM B20A w/ tranny, Web Racing Cams, AEM Cam Gears, I/H/E, ACT HDSS clutch, Fidanza Flywheel, APEXi SAFC, & Zex 65 shot (forgot to mention untuned) Timing severely retarded and NGK plugs with a heat index of 7 (2 steps colder than stock)

thanks for any replies

If your running 2.2's on street tires, your starts are just fine. Overall, that doesnt sound like a bad run, not great, but not bad.

I don't powershift just because I'm happy with how fast I shift and I don't feel like revving my car up to the limiter.

I suggest backing off about 50% when you shift. I noticed crazy torque-steer when I keep it pinned.....Not to mention losing momentum. With the 50% back-off, I moreso launch into the next gear than spin.

So your saying that you keep the throttle pinned, and just press in the clutch to shift right? I can't do that with my lude because I have a real high rev limiter, I think I back off to around 50 percent also. Do you have the full throttle micro switch for your system, I didn't use that one, I actually have a shifter with a button on it, I like that better because I can have my system armed and can go full throttle and still not spray until I hit the button on my shifter. I think that is better for me when I launch, because I have seen guys have traction issues when they launch, I like it because I can launch and then get traction, then spray. just my style.
