New to N2O, help with questions

I am new to N2O and I want help on what to do. Right now I have no engine mods but I am getting AEM short ram and exhaust soon. I have a 98 ss, I don't want too much N2O, so what do people recommend for N2O and other mods I should do to get some power and to keep it safe? I am probably going to get colder spark plugs, cams, pulleys and VAFC, anything else?

Yes I would also recomend you get an aftermaket ingnition as well. Something like a basic MSD with a coil would be fine for a smaller shot.

Also you may want to check out on getting a purge and bottle heater they can make a world of difference especially the heater on those cold days.

Read the newbie sticky. It tells you everything that you need for various shot sizes. A bottle heater is also a good investment if you have the cash. Afterhourz sells a good upgrade kit for NX kits. It includes a heater, purge, and nitrous pressure gauge.

OK I'll say it... Just make sure you do a compression check first before you buy anything...

Yeah I did read the sticky laughin2.2 did which helped. i am going to do a compression test before anything. As of now I am planning on doing type s cams, AEM cam gear, AEM pulley, AEM SRI, exhaust and VAFC. Should I do taht get dyno tuned and then do a compression test?

Last time I heard Type S cams didn't work in the USDM head because of the design differences in the head. You may want to check into that.
You can get all of your mods tuned with the VAFC and cam gears, and then put a wet kit on it. Then just do one pull to make sure that you AF ratio is safe when you spray. That should get you rolling right.

I would take all that money you will be spending on mods and do the ss to manual swap. Then save up and get a wet kit.

I found a site that sells type-s pistons and cams for the USDM lude. I also read in a book that the type-s cams are the best for the USDM lude.

type s cams are probably the best all around cams, but the you will get far more power out of some skunk cams or other custom cams.

I am quoting a honda/acura mod book written by a guy who has worked on modding cars for 21yrs and has worked with Nissan and TRD.

"The H22 VTEC Prelude motor can also benefit from the JDM Type S cam. They are good for 3 - 5 HP. The aftermarket cams for these motors are often beneficial only if the motor is going to be modified enough to rev in the 9000-plus rpm range."

So you can pull out what you want from this. I think he is saying that the Type S cams are the best way to go if you don't have $10,000 poured into your motor.

power can come in all ways. I mean, type s cams are going to have a flatter torque/hp curve, where as other aftermarket cams are going to have move peak power. what does this mean? for everyday driving type s cams will be more beneficial since you don't have to rev so high, and skunk 2 cams are going to be better for racing since you are going to be keeping your revs up.

The skunk 2 stage 1 cams would be a good cam also if your not wanting to rev that high.
