I am having a 55hp ZEX dry kit installed on the lude next month by a professional shop. I had some questions I thought some of you may help me with. Also please no flaming because im putting nitrous in the lude, for what I want for power, it being my DD, and other aspects I came to the conclusion that nitrous was the best choice for me. I know I'm going to get flamed anyway, probably not here but definitely at shows or where ever else.
FYI - My car is a 2001 Prelude Base with approx 114,000 miles and basic bolt on's (I/H/E) and I will be doing a compression test before getting nitrous installed. I will also be getting a fuel pressure gauge and a nitrous pressure gauge.
1) My car burns or leaks oil about 1 qrt every 1200 miles is this so bad that I shouldn't get the nitrous installed?
2) Is it ok to have everything in car during cold winters (box, bottle, lines)?
3) Can I still restart my ECU after nitrous gets installed? Or will this mess up the ZEX box?
4) What should fuel pressure be at approx when NOS is being used?
5) Is it bad to let bottle get completely empty when using it?
6) How long is nitrous good for? Can nitrous stay in bottle over winter (I live in NH)? Does it have to be in room temp area over the winter?
7) Is there a specific grade of nitrous I need, like only automotive grade?
8) Is there any built in safety with ZEX kit that prevents nitrous going in if fuel cant keep up? Or do I have to monitor that with the fuel pressure gauge?
9) I'm going to install a purge kit with my uncle that has nitrous experience on carburetor cars. Is there anything important he and I should know not to do when installing on a fuel injected car?
10) Can I turn on switch at anytime (moving or standing still?)
11) How can I "measure" how much nitrous I have in the bottle?
12) Is it ok to have an MSD kit with the nitrous? Specifically: MSD 6AL 6420 Ignition Controller, MSD Distributor Cap, and MSD Blaster 2 External Coil?
And also any other information would be appreciated
Thanks!
Ok well I guess I'll ask my installer these questions. Can anyone at least let me know if running the nitrous with my car burning or leaking about a quart every 1200 miles is really bad? Or as long as the oil is full when I push the button I should be ok?
as far as i know and what ive heard u cant have nitrous in your car for inspection or it will fail miserably...just a heads up...thanks again for the eyelid template...

Ive already talked to my mechanic and as long as it's disconnected it wont fail. It's only illegal if it's "plugged in" while on the street, it's suppose to be for off road use only (i.e. the drag way). And even if for whatever reason NH changes the law it's just a matter of taking the bottle out, removing the lines, get it inspected, then put it all back together.
Thanks for the reply by the nitrous is on hold for the time being because my block needs repair (not sure if it's the sleaves, rings, pistons, etc...) I'm burning about 1 quart of oil ever 1300 miles and I know it's not leaking.
do a compression check and double check for leaks also by the way how many miles does the motor have
It only has about 115,000. So im confused why if it's a ring or something. Maybe if the car had like 170,000 or something I'd understand something breaking internally. But yeah a compression test will probably be the next thing I'll do
i dont mean to high jack ur post and i dont wana start a new 1 for 1 question but is it ok
if i install a nos kit in my 93 prelude the motor got 153k miles. the motor runs like new still no problems
Make sure you get one of the big bottles. Actually make it two. Just be careful because there might be danger to the manifold. Then the floorboard will fall off.

Horsepower in a bottle...... It's a wonderful thing if properly installed and carefully applied. What you have to understand is that there are limits to everything, and no one thing will result in satisfying every expectation. 55 hp is a moderate increase. I doubt you will have any problems if the system is set up properly with built in safety checks that prevent certain situations from occurring. You should only apply NOS2 at full throttle opening, and then for a limited time of around ten seconds. Continuous induction of the stuff will assure that you will have destruction at hand. When you apply the NOS2, there must also be gasoline added to prevent a blowtorch effect that is sure to melt pistons. This should have already been worked out by your installer. However, make sure of these things. 1- There is a throttle position switch that only allows for NOS to be applied at full throttle opening. 2- There is a fuel pressure switch that prevents NOS from being applied without additional fuel (Gasoline). I played around with the stuff and it was quite impressive. For every 6.3 pounds you introduce into an engine per min. there is a 100 hp gain. Regardless of it's size. The "per Min" factor is just a flow rate, you can't actually do a full minute without damage. Stick with the 10 second on the button and keep your engine. I could go on but I think you'll get the idea from what I've already written. Good luck.

I'm sure your answer helped him a lot with his question.
