Looking for some advice

I wanted to run a little shot, like a 50. All I have on the car at this point is and intake and pulleys. I have an MSD 6a and blaster SS coil from my last car, a CRX. Bought them when the ignitor went out.

I was going to install that on the Prelude, since it's just collecting dust, and I have a set of Magnecore 8.5's on the way to go with it, since it was time to replace the wires anyway (90k miles)

Now, is there a 50 wet kit? I've heard they can be a bit safer, and safety is really my primary concern here. I just compression tested the motor, and its between 208-215 on all cylinders.

What else do I need? 1 step colder plugs I'd assume, and it seemed like from the sticky I could keep the stock timing.

Am I in a safe area here? I'm really not trying to blow the motor, I'd be screwed. Let me know what's up. Thanks in advance.

NOS and NX both make good wet kits, a wise choice to go with a wet kit too. Just to be safe you should run 1 step colder plugs (NGK BKR7E-11). If you plan on staying at a 50 shot you can upgrade to platinum plugs after you know there isn't any detonation. You will be fine to run that ignition, no timing retard is necessary. Some good nitrous accessories are a pressure guage (probably most inportant), purge and bottle bottle heater. I would highly recommend those items. You can get away without a purge but it makes clearing your lines of n2o a little more stylish

Yeah, I'd do the colder plugs. Would htere be fouling concerns if I were light on the juice? I'd be fine with more frequent switching of the plugs if it gave me the margin of safety I was looking for.

Yeah, I'd get the bottle heater, if I'm running a fairly low shot to begin with, I'd want every bit of pressure it was designed to deliver.

So what do we think? any other things to consider? Is a NX wet 50 shot with 7-range plugs, stock timing, and an MSD 6A and SS coil a safe bet on a 200+ psi motor? I konw most people say "Oh, I won't squeeze that often." Uh huh. But really, I'd probably only use it on weekends or a the track, and I'm sure after I got the initial amusement out of my system even less frequently.

Oh, and I have a decent amount of mechanical experience (all the bolt ons, engine swap in my CRX) Is this an install that I could easily handle? Sorry if I have a lot of questions, but if I'm coming to the dark side, I want to make sure I don't get a big kick in the nuts somewhere down the road, you know?

Installation is very straight forward. You just have to have basic electrical skills. Snce you have an ignition, you can easily run a 50 shot, and safely run a 75 shot. With NX kits, they advertise that ignition changes are not necessary up to the 75 shot. Personally, i run the 75 shot on stock ignition with the Zex sparkplugs with no problems at all. You will want to start saving up for a clutch, since that will be the first thing to go.

You shouldn't have trouble installing the nitrous kit man. It is pretty straight forward and if you have any questions regarding the installation we are here to help you out. As for your car if you plan on running a 50 shot all you really need are colder plugs. I'd recommend the zex ones. I've been running a 65 shot on my lude w/ stock timing for about a year now and I have yet to have any problems. Just make sure you check your plugs after every run.

do you have to get a clutch after a while if you run the 50 shot?

I check my plugs after I spray every time. The gasoline you run will never be consistant, you might get a batch that has more ethanol than your last tank. However, when I get my ignition and retard my timing I'll probably check it from time to time, but with stock timing I'm pretty sure it is close to detonating. Your clutch will probably hold a 50 shot for a while, but most people on the board know when you first get n2o you will want to spray, it is just too much fun.

Do you have something better to do between runs?
I don't check after every run, but I will check at least once during track day and I go to the dyno with a wideband O2 after every change to my kit.
The sticky has all of the information to run nitrous safely. Go by that and you'll be fine.
