After doing some research on ignitions I decided on getting the Mallory Hyfire VI CD Ignition (685). I would highly recommend this for nitrous use, it has a lot of nice features built in. Here is the low down.
Digital ignition
Primary revlimiter (topend)
Secondary rev limiter (triggered by 12v, can be used as a starting line low rpm limiter or whatever you want)
Start retard (easy starts)
Built in 2 stage window switch (perfect for turning your solenoids on at a certain rpm and cutting them before the rev limiter)
Timing retart (triggered by 12v, so you can run regular timing off the bottle)
And the best part is you don't need any pills to change anything, it is all changed on a digital display. I haven't hooked it up to my nitrous yet, but I'll report back when I do. If you are looking for a new ignition, check this one out. You can get it at Jegs for $220. This is comparable to the MSD Digital 6 Plus ignition, but it has a window switch built in, LCD display for adjustments (no knobs) and is $50 cheaper. Here are a few other items that compliment it well
[edit]
For anyone who purchases this ignition, wire it like the MSD 6 ignition (click here). The only exception is the white wire is green on the mallory box.
cool, sounds like a good product. Let us know how it goes. maybe a write up as well. The more info we can jam into the sticky, the better off this forum will be

There isn't one built in, but I'm sure you could add one. I don't really see the need for a 3rd stage, wouldn't it work fine if you set the first stage to 5500 rpm or whatever you want to launch at, and have a switch for your clutch too?
Originally posted by Padge does auto retard mean that when you are spraying it will automatically retard the timing to a preset?
so if I was running a 75 shot it would retard to 2 degrees if I set it too? How does that work?
Sounds like a great product, let us know when you install it.
actually it is an auto start retard, it retards your timing for easier starts (when the motor is under 500 rpm). There is also a wire coming off the ignition that when you apply 12V to it will retard your timing to whatever you have it set to. So basically you run a wire that goes from the retarding wire on the ignition to a power wire on your solenoid.
So basically your timing is only retarded while you are spraying, allowing you to run regular timing off the bottle
for any ignition I would recommend not putting it in the engine bay. heat kills electronics as well as vibration. however ignitions click, so it is up to you where to put it. Just make sure it is clear of water though, I think that would be worse than anything else.

Yeah, everything is working great. I haven't checked it out with a timing light to ensure it is retarding my timing while I am spraying, but I have it wired correctly. Hands down the coolest thing about this is the window switch. The first time out with it I had it set to start spraying at 4000 rpm and cut out at 7600 rpm. Being an SS it takes a while to get to get all the sheep in a row, so I dropped it down to start spraying at 2400 rpm. There is about a 100 rpm lag though, but that is just how long it takes the noids to open up and for the nitrous to hit the nozzle. It is kinda weird though, I get a slight amount of tire spin off the line and then when the nitrous kicks in it just lights them up. All in all I am very satisfied with this ignition, there are no pills to mess with and there are a ton of features built in.
