Ok I have been working on this h23 vtec motor for a while and put it all together minus the head.
I am debating on sparying on this motor. Not sure yet. My bottom end is Iron sleeved, crank was balanced, and rods shot peened and cyro frozen. I have J.E. 11:1 pistons and total seal rings. Everything is looking good. Head has skunk2 springs+retainers stock valves and crower stage 2 cams.
My question is should I take it back apart and change the rods. I dont want to but could do it later. I just dont want to be disapointed when I want to spray and am scared to break something.

rods will hold to 100 shot im sure.....but with a CR of 11:1 you are limited as to how much you can spray safely......your whole motor is really strong, the rods are gonna be your weak point.....but as I said, your rods will be fine for the amount that you can spray with that setup....Ive seen 11:1 ludes spray 125 shot, but he had crower rods....why did you spend the $$ on shotpeening and freezing? why didnt you just get some eagle rods instead? little price difference considering what you have into it already
Ok, you want to spray on this engine but want to change the rods.. but looks to me like you have "shot peened and cyro frozen" rods in there already ..
well the rods are from honda just had some work done to them. I dont know for sure if they will hold up to the power + nitrous. I know they will be fine without.
well. I thought only crower made rods for the h23. Also at the time I had the resources to do what I did for pretty cheep. KNow I am just weeryabout if they can hold the spray or not.
You have an h23 block right? You need to do something with those cryogenized rods, they won't hold up too long if you plan on spraying an irregularly large shot. Crower or Eagle should do the trick.

double post. Why are you postin' this question in the turbo forum? These guys don't know nothing about nitrous!
The rings are fine man, the only thing you should be worried about are the rods... change them if you plan on spraying big. The rest of your setup sounds great.

A 75 shot isn't that big on a stock, or relatively stock engine that has the right head on the block, but since you're h23 vtec, that means you're going to have to pay more attention to small details to keep up with the engine. It'll be a doozy if you do it all right.

man i used 100 shot for over a year and my rods were shotpeened. my compression is good and now i am turbocharged. so i guess it depends on how many shots ur using. i would say ur safe up to 100 shot. 100 shot is freaking fast too, alot faster than my 6 psi.
