Is there an easy way to test compression or should I take the car to a shop?

Dry kit just sprays nitrous.
Wet kit sprays a mixture of both fuel/nitrous.

Direct port kit taps directly into your manifold rather than your intake.

The gains should be relatively the same between dry and wet kits. It is just usually considered safer to run a wet kit so that you shouldn't run lean and detonate.

I support any reference made to the Big Lebowski.

The rest is not too bad. I'd say if you're comfortable with your electrical skills and have proper tools, you'll be fine. Also, the instructions I had from NOS were very clear on every step. I noticed the links are dead in our Install Sticky but I saved a couple DIY's from fellow members that saved me from headaches, let me know if you want me to email them to you.
