From Dry to Wet

Hey,

I got a ZEX dry kit atm and since im going p72 and what to do a custom tune I think It might be better if I were to go wet (what do you think). What Will I need in order to make the switch and where is the best place to buy the parts?

Thanks

Can you not just buy the selonoids from NX and just reuse the bottle and the hose?

Even though it would be a pita to pull everything out only to install another kit, you might look at getting a used NX kit and sell your zex.

But to answer your question, yes you can reuse your zex bottle and main feed line. you might be able to salvage the barney box, but then again it might be easier to wire in a standard n2o noid and have everything triggered off of a mechanical throttle switch (zex kit's are triggered off the tps aren't they?). Basically you would need:

n2o noid
fuel noid
2 ss fuel lines
a "T" for the fuel line or an aftermarket fuel rail w/ an an fitting
fogger nozzle
jets
mechanical wot switch

I guess my other question would be, would I have any problems using the ZEX kit with a P72? Or will I run really lean when I spray?

Custom but Im not planning on spraying often thus I would tune with out it. Would it be better if I left a little fuel in the top end (where I would spray) or would the zex kit and the p72 dump more fuel in?

^ thats a tough call.

What size of shot are you going to be running? To be honest I think they only way you are going to find out is to make a run on the dyno off the bottle and on the bottle. If you are running real lean off the bottle I doubt the ecu would compensate for much of a dry shot. Another route would be to tune your A/F ratio with a VAFC 2. You could have a tuned fuel map and then a nitrous fuel map. But if the P72 ECU fits your other plans better spraying a dry shot might not be the safest thing to do.

Im only going to be spraying a 55 - 65 shot so nothing too big. What I have been reading into is getting a bigger chip and burning to roms on it then being able to switch the roms depending on if I want to spray or not. I already have the p72, programmer, uv ligth, wideband, and chips. I just need to start to tune. Im just wondering if the P72 will dump enough fuel in or if I should go wet, or heck even two roms (cheaper then going wet).

Damn Zex kits. Most dry kits just add fuel via increased fuel pressure, which is induced by vaccuum created at the nitrous noid(s). The only good thing about chips over a VAFC is that you can control ignition timing(someone correct me if I'm wrong). Well you can't advance the timing when you are spraying, so you'll either have to get and msd box to pull timing when you are spraying or just not advance it period. In my opinion it looks like it would be better to go with a Honda chip which retards timing for you when you spray and advances it when you aren't, or just get a VAFC and leave your timing alone.

Either that or just start tuning it and hope you get it working since the P72 still has a knock sensor. Might want to toss some race gas in until you get the hang of it to give you more of a margin for error.
