Cost to fill bottle?

I was looking through all of the stickies and the threads.. but I haven't found a post about the cost of filling up the bottle. This could probably be stuck in the newbie sticky too. So how much does it cost (ball park)?

It is $4 a pound here too I wanna see if I can talk my dad into becoming a n2o fill station, but it costs around $1500 for a pump and scale.

$1500 isn't bad at all. Think of the money you'd make! But it's also a huge problem because if anything happens then.. kaboom I have a 10 lb bottle.. so I guess Padge is getting around $4 a lb too (unless he has a bigger bottle). Anyway, I hope it's $2.50 around here too - but it looks like Padge is in PA so no hopes here lol

I believe you lose around a pound of nitrous from the fill bottles lines and the pump every fill too. We sell nitrous kits at my dad's shop now for sleds/atvs. I usually get a hookup deal on fills from another shop in the area, I know the service manager

Wait.. you mean the bottle doesn't hold as much with every fill? Are you serious? That's not cool

no no no.. when you take your empty bottle to get filled they hook it up to a pump and mother bottle. When your bottle has 10 lbs of nitrous in it, they turn the pump off and close the mother bottle. There is still a pound or so of nitrous in the lines from the mother bottle and pump that is lost on every fill, which is why nitrous is kinda spendy.

I see, so you have to pay for the n2o that never got to your bottle. That stinks... who thought of that idea?? heh

I've had n2o for 9 months and have gone through 3 bottles. I am lucky now days to spray 2-3 times a month, unless I'm at the track.

Wow.. I don't drive much so I'm guessing mine should actually last a long time. When I do drive it's usually in bumper to bumper traffic to school and back. I have those weekend night cruises with my buddies though, so yeah...
