control units

hey just read the sticky (very good) and saw something i did not know was out there. A nitrous control unit that uses rpm as control factor. This seems like it might be a good idea for mis-shifts. I have heard of people blowing engines on a mis-shift? I would think the big factor here is no load on the engine when it is not in gear. I would hate to hit the rev limiter and the fuel shut down and only n2o being shot.So is there any truth to this, please clear me up. Thanks

you have a few options for a high rpm fuel cut. The NX kits come with a fuel pressure sensor (I'm sure other companies have them too), so when you hit the fuel cut it kills the power to your solenoids. You can also pick up a window switch and have it set to kill your noids at 7600 rpm. There is no way to protect your motor when you miss a shift (IE shift from 2nd at redline into first or something like that) since your wheels are forcing the motor to spin more rpm. Also, almost all nitrous kits are triggered off of a wide open throttle switch, so as long as you aren't shifting wide open throttle you won't be spraying while shifting.

As for hitting the fuel cut while you are spraying you probably won't do any damage. I've heard of quite a few people hitting the cut while spraying and all was well, but don't make it a habbit. First gear goes by so fast anways it won't hurt to shift a hundred or two rpm early.

Setting the rev limiter on an MSD ignition box at the stock red line will keep you from hitting the fuel cut. A window switch would also work.
