A blow down fitting? Are you talking about the blow down tube? No it isnt necessarry, but it looks pretty......its necessarry if you have n20 and a hatchback and want to go to the strip to race....its a vent tube for your bottle

CTPRELUDE

Tracks have a rule that you cannot have a bottle in the same cabin as the driver unless it has the blow down tube. With the lude we dont have that problem since its actually in the trunk.
