a word of warning re:9psi pulley

allegedly, the install of this thing is a "piece of cake."

it's not. it appears to be impossible to remove the 6psi pulley with the jackshaft adapter still in the engine bay... which means, yes, you guessed it, removing the supercharger as well.

essentially we're talking about an entire day's work. what a *$(#*$)(#($*# $* &#@(!.

i have tried just about everything, including heating, penetrating oil, gear pullers (checked 6 or so different auto parts and tool stores, there is no puller commonly available that will engage the pulley given the small size of the pulley, the lack of a pronounced "flange," and the proximity of the valve cover and other parts of the motor). broke several screwdrivers and bent the **** out of a 1/8" mild steel pry bar. it's not a momentary friction holding it in, since i did manage to move it approximately 1/32 of an inch.

the maker of the pulley says his just "fell off," once the nut was removed, but the car had never been driven. i'm not sure what that has to do with anything, since this part is not threaded and shouldn't tighten with use.

and oh yes, any attempts to remove the stock pulley are likely to SIGNIFICANTLY damage it. it's soft.

What about. .

Just a thought. . Wouldn't replacing one of the other pullies in the assembly be . . well. . smarter. This is especially pointed at 5th Gen's with the Jackshaft. This would get around voiding the warranty of the blower and have the same end result wouldn't it. Probably easier too. Or am I just way off here... -Z

i imagine i would come off pretty easy, i have yet to try since i have not got my 9psi pulley yet. Chrommo got the pulley as well. i wonder if he is having the same problem as you are schwett. Yes that would be a PIA to have to take off the SC just to put the pulley on.... hell i may not buy the 9psi pully cause of that

Good luck keep us informed !

Schwett, I forgot to mention I only removed the bracket and the pulley tensioner brackets. Once the pulley was about 1/8", it got harder to remove. We didn't use any additives, persistence was the key. Turn, pry, turn, pry, turn, pry, CRAP!!! Turn, pry, turn, pry.......
