Don't up the boost above 7psi, make sure you've got good tuning. And then between now and 6 months from now, save your money for a built motor.

just to clear this up, i had no FMU inplace after the install. So my first good run or so sucked. I took it back and they 'tested it'. unplugged the 'wastegate' because they 'couldnt find out why it wouldnt boost higher' and took it for a 10psi ring busting, moment. patched me all up and sent me him ... to post here to find out i had busted rings. just for the record

MOTORSPORT TECHNIQUE =

and for some more clarity, i busted 3 rings into atleast 3 or more pieces.

4gen here.
Prelude Si, 6-7 psi daily.
been to 10psi a few times.
never any detonation.
no problems.
*BUT I real curious on any precautions or warning signs for blown ring lands!

BluLuder: what you have to look for is smoke coming out of the valve cover breather. But to have an accurate assessment of your stock internals shape, just do a compression test.

I just blew rings in cylinders 3-4 smoking like a frieght train.
175 in 1-2 and 100 on 3-4 on the compression test.

I'am running a stock motor with a T04e T-72 compressor wheel and p-trim turbine wheel with .70a/r .... custom kit and 3in. exhaust turbo back.

fuel....I'am running 450cc injectors with resister box....Aem fuel rail vdo press gauge and walbro 255l high press pump.

hondata stage 2b
spearco fmic
deltagate
godzilla bov
profec-b

rebuilding motor this weekend, new rings, Cometic head gasket to drop compression to 9.0:1

then I will boost no more than 15, an 18 once in a while. By time I break something my serious motor should here.
...................That I will explain in my next post................................

What boost levels were you running before the ringlands blew?

What do you guys mean by ring lands blowing. A ring is a ring and the land is what the rings rest on. So when you guys say ring lands are you referring to actually breaking the lands off the pistons.

I was about at 10psi untuned when this occured, and I detonated pretty bad. blew flams out the exaust. everyone traveling behind me quickly moved.

My car is blowing out clouds of white smoke through the exhaust and the breather, however the smoke doesnt have a blue tint to it so I'am thinking I must be burning some water as well.

My car runs smooth without a hickup at all and idles good and no vibrations what so ever from the motor, I can put my hnd on the valve cover and no shakes it purrs even when reved. So what the hell is going on, answers anybody

If not for the compression test and the smoke show no one would see anything wrong. And I cant drive it cause if I make a smoke show, in my rearview I'am sure to see a light show.

My antifreeze is still green and is full in the radiator so I dont think I cracked the block. My only hope is that I didnt score the cylinders to bad if the lands did break.

Well people please let me know what you think on this subject thanx!!!!

Add me to the list. I've been supercharged for 3 months and 6k miles. I compression checked the car last week and it was 205, 200, 205, 205. Right now I'm running the basic setup with a VAFC to richen in the midrange and top end. Getting ready to add Hondata 2b, 440cc injectors, and P28 ECU.

P28? What are you doing about the knock sensor?

The stock knock sensor doesn't really do much unless you get a tank of bad gas. I'll be adding a J&S in the next month. My Hondata Tuner said he prefers the P28 and so that is what I got.
