Well breathing, well tuned low boost vs. higher boost (turbo ?)...

I am contemplating going turbo. I have an h23. I was wondering what would usually yield a better power:money ratio?

Would it be better to better the engine by getting a P/P, for better flowing air. And then lets say get a standalone stage 4b. All this running low boost (3-4psi daily driven, 7-8psi track). And put some extra money to upgrading the turbo kit (getting a better manifold or what not).

Or would it be better to put the money towards building the bottom end and just running low compression, high boost (6-8 psi daily, 12-15 psi track) on a kit thats a little less efficient.

I am wondering which would be better off for the engines life, and power wise. The first option is much more efficient, but Im wondering if the amount of extra boost your able to run on the second option would yield more power at the end.

I was just wondering this, because I am contemplating turbo and wondering if I should go custom (option 1 - get top of the line everything), or if i should get a lesser kit (option 2), and then putting the extra money towards building the bottom.

Also keep in mind this is a daily driver, so I also want to know which option would benefit more.

Thanks, Jordan

I would not be afraid to run 6-8psi for your daily drive on a bone stock bottom end. I have been for 2 months now and have yet to have a problem and others have for a lot longer than me. What kind of budget do you have?

look at the year of his car though, its a 92.

IMO I would skip the P&P and put that money towards the internals BUT still get a standalone. Get top quality parts upgrade your internals, and boost as high as 12-15 PSI. Unless of course you have a budget, whats the most you'll be willing to spend for EVERYTHING to get the turbo up and running?
