Wastegate dump tube

I was wondering for external wastegates, where is the exhaust gas released to. Does the dumptube take the exhaust gas to the downpipe or can it be discharged to the air below the engine. I've heard where the dyno results were better when it was discharged to the atmosphere but may not be legal in most places. I've been trying to find where to buy a dump tube for a 38mm tial wastegate and info on how it connects but there doesn't seem to be any sellers. Is this because it has to be customed?

Im pretty sure it has to be customed due to different setups and manifolds just to make sure it clears and wires/piping/hosing/etc. I kno my dump tube custom designed and welded for my 40mm

You can dump it into the atmosphere under your car. Hell, I even passed emissions doing this. But you can tie it back into the down pipe. If you do this I would recommend you do it at least a foot away from the wastegate.
