You can do high 14's with simple bolt ons. With a sc, high 13's should be doable. But 12's is pretty tough. You are looking at a full engine build with turbo. That would take more money than most of us have here. Since most of us use our Prelude as a daily driver, building a drag car is unrealistic. Perhaps someone here has done it and will speak up.

you forget most Sc people are only running what u call measely 6 psi of boost. 9 psi is where u can get into low 13's even 12's.

If you do a search you can easily find more material regarding this question.

Essentially, you have to change the SC pulley in order to attain higher PSI levels. The JRSC kit comes with a 6-psi pulley. If you want to boost higher, then you have to get a 9-psi pulley, which is essentially smaller in diameter. I don't think that I've come across any pulleys that are in-between, but I'm sure you could always custom-fabricate one yourself.

Also, if you are going to boost 9 psi, larger injectors are must. You can't afford to run lean.

Preludes are HEAVY. Therefore it takes a lot more power to get them into the 12's. I'm pretty sure a 1900lb Civic hatch only needs 200whp to get into the 12's on slicks, whereas a Prelude would need 250+whp and then traction is a big issue. We can't get 250whp unless we run 8-9psi which usually entails an engine build and standalone. Then there are always tuning issues. I like my current setup, It is a high 13 setup on street tires and on the street I can hang with most cars. At this point dropping another couple grand just to run low 13's or 12's seems studpid, I would rather strip my car, sell it and start off with a stock car that runs 13's.

Ok well the Prelude is one heavy car, i have a 2000 base model. Mine weighed in at 3272 with driver (not stripped down).
With the old 9.5:1 motor, stock head, blown headgasket, and warped block I took it to the track. The motor was gone anyway so what the heck. At 10psi and on baby slicks with the heater on high it ran 13.1 @ 106 with a 60' time of 2.6. That was the first pass ever turbocharged. We staged after a 45 minute cool down time to let the coolant stop bubbling over. This time we were kicked off the track cause when we staged my car leaked coolant unto the track.

I am building a new motor as I post this, hopefully it will be up and running within a few months.

I dont prefer one over the other (turbo vs supercharged). Either will suffice on low boost settings provided your properly tuned. If you want more power though turbo is the way to go!

that is really strange, unless you had a full tank of gas (100 pounds) and weight 300+ pounds yourself! is your scale accurate? my 2000 SH weighed 2820 pounds totally stock with no driver and no gas, but all other fluids full (oil, coolant, wiper fluid, etc) and the spare, jack, and full interior. totally stock.

honda always seems to overstate their weights slightly; i'm not sure why but all three hondas i've weighed have been less than stated.

this was on a certified scale as well, accurate to ±20lbs at that weight range.

Was running a full tank of gas and had a 225lb driver. Full interior was retained including spare tire and a 12 quart box of oil. This was done at Houston Raceway Park scale on the night of the maiden run.

Remember that my car is turbo, I am unsure if this adds too much weight, but I think that all that stuff should add about 20lbs, if not more.

I think I weighed in at 3150 at the same track as ludespeed. I also had a full tank, spare and jack, full interior, 2 12's and a big amp. I weight 150 tho
