those of u running crazy boost...do u upgrade ur driveshafts?
i plan on running around 25psi in the future and am concerned that my axles will not hold up. who makes driveshafts for us 5th gens? ive heard of driveshaft shop but they dont list the prelude only the h22a but for integras and civics. for those running more than 15psi of boost, who do u go to for driveshaft issues? i tried using the search but didnt come up with anything. id greatly appreciate any help any of u can give me. thanks in advance.
FWD or RWD...everyone brakes driveshafts if you have enough power. i broke a driveshaft at 8psi last year launching on slicks.
Driveshaft shop will make any stage you need...even for the prelude. you just need to contact them and ask.
You'd be fine with stage 2 driveshafts. they're the same as the stage 3's without the larger hubs because preludes and accords already have the larger hubs.
lol..... i'm agreeing with spinnlude on this one. we dont have driveshafts technically. We have 2 axles and a halfshaft. lol. BUT...... prodrive makes the best axles on the market. I highly recommend prodrive. However you will only break axles on slicks. it is 95% impossible to break axles on the street simply because you'll break traction before you break axles. You dont even need to be boosted to break an axle. all it takes is 28" slicks, shoot, go for the bad boys, 31" hehe. and a 7krpm clutch drop.

well u guys knew what i was talking about regardless of me not designating the correct name. by prodrive, r u speaking of the prodrive that tune the wrx's? if not, what is their website of contact info? thanks!
Stock drive shaft are fine unless your on slicks! the drive shaft torque is limited by traction, not the amount of power you have at the crank. Even if your on slicks, yes, you get more traction but also more weight transfer so your slicks arn't grabbing as much as you thought they would as in a RWD car. Also, 500+ hp axles are retarted unless you have 2ft wide slicks on the front. It's basic Vehical Dynamics. I'm not trying to sound like Mr "know it all" because I'm not... I'm just want guys to put their money where it's needed.
i have heard good things about prodrive as well, but i have not gathered enough information about aftermarket axles and pros and cons about certain companies to have decided whether i want to change mine yet or not. i also saw on honda-tech another company called Gator Racing that sells beefed up axles as well.
dss stage 2 axles are causing my car and another guy i talked to with a lude to wheel hop threw all of second and 3rd gear..........you might want to stand clear of them
Personally, unless I was driving competitively, I would avoid upgraded axles. I prefer the easiest to replace and cheapest drivetrain part to be my 'weakest link.'
PS: by competitively, I mean for money, as my source of income.
they will make you custom axles at half the price of driveshaft.com and you will get axles that handle any amt of HP you have. and they warranty their product.

i know 1 or 2 people that broke their stock driveshafts and they were pushing more than 350whp
one broke his axle on a burnout

I'm running Gator Racing Axles in my lude and I leave at 6rpm on slicks and haven't broking them yet. They made a big differents on my car. They only cost about $300 for the pair and the money have been worth it.
I only have 188whp, but I tend to go to the track a lot. Do you think aftermarket axles is a good place to spend my money. I'm not running slicks just all seasons.
But ya know what they say "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".
