Not sure if this is ACTUALLY considered F/I but i didn't know where else to post this. For a cheap, poor college student, such as myself. What do you think of this. I know I'm not going to get this crazy boost of power. But I'm lookiing for some easy things I can do, to get just a bit more out my engine on my 98 lude.
It was more expensive than the intake supercharger, but the gains are way more impressive. It's basically a blower that mounts in the intake (like the one you posted), but it has a small brushless motor that's powered by a small solar panel that mounts to the roof of the car.
Obviously, the rate of power gains are dictated by weather. I found that I would easily pick up 30-35 hp on a clear summer day. CARB legal, too!
Can you just paypal that $50 you were going to use for that thing to me? I can guarantee that it would be a better investment of your money, and then I would have the $50 you would have wasted. Everybody wins.
Obviously, the search intake charger is a whole different story. I've heard you can put ice in it for a huge power increase.
How did a solar panel look on the roof of the car? And do you have to use a solar panel, couldn't you not power it with the car's electric system
The idea of the solar panel was to power the motor w/o draining voltage from the car's electrical system. It didn't look bad at all. SEARCH actually did a great job with the design.
I'm looking for a pic, but I don't think I have any on this computer.
Yeah, it was a pain to reroute my exhaust piping into a dual muffler setup to clear the the ice lines from the trunk and keep them cool, but it was totally worth it. It registered at least 40 HP on the butt dyno, but it would probably be even more on a real dyno. You should definitely try to contact search and order one. To bad their site is down, everybody knows they make all the best stuff for Preludes.

Yeah, the guy that responds every time I email them is always super nice and gets back to me quickly. I'm sure he would be glad to further explain the fine line of search products since their site is down and all.
I'm thinking that I'll probably have on in the next couple of years. Nearly 200 hp for Under 14 grand is awfully appealing. I'm gonna try and get the R1 back on the road before the end of summer, ride it another season, and look for a used S1000RR.
Not sure what kind of watch is required to ride a two-wheeled Bimmer, though. I do have a Tag, so I'm probably ok.
Your best bet is to cut the ends off a CAI and make a new pipe directly from these, just j.b. weld a bunch togather and put the two ends on that biznatch, you'll be toasting TT supras like it was breakfast at dennys.
Okay, so is it a hard install, for someone with very little mechanical knowledge. I mean, I'm not a complete moron, But about the most complicated thing ive done is swap out and ignition switch and and dash thing on an older motorcycle. Did it with out directions though. So do you think I'd have any trouble installing the echarger?
DNick, don't listen to Tee-Dot, he's pulling your chain.
The echarger will do nothing for you, and neither will that surge intake charger. You are better off spending your money on a quality non-gimmicky item such as a good intake, header, or exhaust.
