Reinstalling IM tonight...need help

The JRSC instructions step #25 state
Quote:
...Unplug the vacuum line from the switching valve under the variable intake system and disconnect the vacuum line from the manifold that goes to the fuel pressure regulator. The vacuum line for the switching valve will not be reused. But, the switching valve must remain plugged in, as the computer will release a malfunction code if it is disconnected...
Since I'm reinstalling my IM tonight, I'd rather not reinstall this IAB control (black box) unit. Instead, can I remove the sensor from the black box, plug it in to the connector, and cap the 2 vacuum line nipples that are on the sensor?

Thanks for the help.

Yes. you do not need it. however, because it is a SMOG control device you will throw an engine code if you are not running a stand-alone and you will not pass smong. cap the two lines at the side near the drivers side fender AFTER the metal portion ... where it would change back to vacuum lines to go to the unit. Just unplug the wire and cap the two lines

No no no...thats not the part I meant. I was worried someone might get confused from reading my quote from the JR instructions

The device I'm refering to controls the secondary intake runners (butterfly plate) below the plenum. Not smog related as far as I know.

I'm not sure why JR states that leaving the IAB control solenoid unplugged will cause a diagnostic trouble code. There is no DTC for the IAB system. As far as I know, the IAB solenoid and vacuum tank can be removed without issue.

Yah, I found myself pulling some crazy all nighters the first time, too. I was too excited to sleep. You gotten through the hardest part, the rest should go easy for you.

Ditching the IAB's don't cause you to need to buy new belts for the SC? Hopefully you're close to done now!

The JRSC can't be installed without removing the IABs.

Sort of... still waiting for my new front motor mount since the one I took off was split in two. And I would like to polish my Mugen header before I reinstall it. It desperately needs someTLC, but thats just one more delay

Polishing the header is about an hour job. It looks nice when it's off the car, but once it starts getting heat back into it the stains come back.

Dude...nothing I do is an hour job. Sh!t, my JRSC install is going on 3 weeks now, not including 1 week spent at the hospital visiting my Mom. I haven't driven my car for 4+ weeks
