Questions about dyno tuning

1. When you go to a dyno shop, do the employees help you tune it, or are you own your own, or does it differ from shop to shop?

2. I know that they hook up a wideband o2 sensor. Do they hook it into your ECU also so their machine and your ECU both get a signal? Kinda a dumb question, but i just dont know. I know if the ECU doesnt get an o2 sensor, it throws a CEL and runs overly-rich

3. Whys it so damn expensive?

I hope to drive to a dyno (probably a LOONG drive) next january after i get my AFC and injectors installed.

Thanks!.

1. It depends on the shop. I know there are a few around here that charge less to run your car on the dyno but you are left to do the tuning yourself. The next time I take my lude in for WOT tuning I will be tuning it myself.

2. The wideband sensor of a dyno consists of a probe that goes into the tail pipe.

3. Owning/maintaining a dyno is expensive.

Im currently making my own dyno out of two oil drums, a ford rear-end, a motor from a sewing machine and a voltimiter. just kiddin. that'd be funny tho, wouldnt it?

You could try one of these two products :
Home Dyno
Street Dyno
Both of these products definitely work (and definitely cool ), and I plan on trying this out as soon as it's not so damn cold here. In order to actually tune your car, you would need to set up your own wideband though.

If you have a wideband, this would be the money setup. I plan on going this route by next spring.
