oil feed and cracked blocks? (DirtyLude or anyone)

Hi everybody,

I was doing some research on all the different fittings (NPT, BSPT, BSP, AN) that I would need when doing my oil feed and oil return lines.

One of the things that I have heard about and has me wondering is when someone mentioned this:

Quote:
here is a better picture of where the oil feed comes from. But, like I said before, this is the setup which is not reccommended (the block is prone to cracking under stress, and the weight of the fittings/tees)

I think that the tee they gave me was NPT, and I just threaded it down nice and tight ...I dont know, I am about to go take it off and see
now how is it possible for the block to "crack under stress"? and if this is possible how do you prevent it?

Thanks

I'm not certain what the guy is talking about there. You really don't want a brass connector with Tee right on the block because it can seize and it itself can break. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Here's all you need for a feed line:

Autometer Part #2269 1/8" NPT to 1/8" BSPT
Autometer Part #3234 Braided Stainless Steel Hose, 3ft. #3, 3/16" ID Fittings

That's it. You'll probably want a steel 90 degree fitting to go into the turbo. I believe it's a 1/8" NPT thread going into the turbo, but I haven't verified this, so you might want to check.

The line kit comes with all the other fittings you need. The autometer stuff is kinda expensive, but it's so simple, it's hard to beat.

You tap the line on the side of your head. There's a internal brass hex screw behind the coil. You just screw the adapter in, screw the line into the adapter and attach the other side to your turbo. The -3 line size is recommended, because a larger -4 can supply too much fuel and overwhelm the oil seals.

cool!!! thanks for giving me those part numbers numbers DirtyLude, I was gonna make a seperate post asking what I needed for oil feed and oil drain.

You wouldn't happen to know of the top of your head the part numbers to the oil drain lines and fittings would you?

I had a question about the hose lines, they already come with the threaded ends right? I dont have to cut the hose, mount the threaded end, and crimp it or anything?

TIA
